Description

“Once upon a time there was a little boy named Jeremy who lived with his mother in a small house near the sea. His mother earned a bare living for the two of them by washing clothes for some of the wealthy families in their town. Jeremy loved her very much.” So begins the enchanting fairy tale president Jimmy Carter first spun for his daughter Amy as a child. Originally published in 1995, this favorite family story has been joined with Amy Carter’s vibrant illustrations to bring to life a secret friendship that produces unexpected rewards when tragedy looms in a young boy’s life. • Be advised: These books are not "signed" copies.
The advert said it was "signed" but it wasn't. I'm keeping the book out of respect for President Carter's memory, but the seller should be admonished to not promise signed copies of books that are not signed. Thx.

Cute little story. It is very sweet that the former president and his daughter worked on this book together. I used it for our Georgia Studies unit in second grade while teaching.

  • If you're famous, they'll publish anything you write.
The reviews written here remind me of another story, "The Emperor's New Clothes." There is nothing good here, but it was written by a former president. This is actually a rather depressing story and not very well written either. Overall, it's pretty awful. By the way, hasn't the word cripple (used several times) become rather unacceptable by today's standards. ... show more
