Description

New York Times bestseller When The Kinfolk Table was published in 2013, it transformed the way readers across the globe thought about small gatherings. In this much-anticipated follow-up, Kinfolk founder Nathan Williams showcases how embracing that same ethos—of slowing down, simplifying your life, and cultivating community—allows you to create a more considered, beautiful, and intimate living space. The Kinfolk Home takes readers inside 35 homes around the world, from the United States, Scandinavia, Japan, and beyond. Some have constructed modern urban homes from blueprints, while others nurture their home’s long history. What all of these spaces have in common is that they’ve been put together carefully, slowly, and with great intention. Featuring inviting photographs and insightful profiles, interviews, and essays, each home tour is guaranteed to inspire. Read more

  • Great addition to home collection

  • Beautifully curated book for perfectly comfortable perusing.
Just as with the magazine, Kinfolk provides a beautifully composed world full of aspirational-yet-accessible ideas for your home. Interesting interviews, graceful photographs and a pleasing layout will make this book not only a centerpiece on your coffee table or bookshelf, but compel you to thumb through its pages for inspiration. Before you know it, you'll want to throw on a tastefully wrinkled white linen shirt, put your hair into a loose braid or top bun and start planning out how to redecorate your living room with Wabi Sabi pottery, honest raw textiles, and simple Danish furniture. The aesthetic in the book is comfortable modern, with a nod to simple and understated - an immersion into the aesthetic of the Kinfolk world. Great for yourself or a housewarming gift for a friend. ... show more

  • Fails to deliver
I bought this book because its mission, presumably, was to demonstrate a wide interpretation of slow living. And in so doing, one could define slow living through the commonalities. Why else feature so many homes from so many places? Instead, the author uses the pages to showcase a personal aesthetic instead of the deeper meaning of slow living. If you live slowly, you probably aren’t wealthy (or not anymore). You probably inherited possessions over a long time. So you have a hodgepodge of stuff. You care more about making it work than remodeling it to achieve “the right look.’ Presumably you do so so you can enjoy your family, your friends, and your hobbies. None of that is reflected in these pages. Instead this book paints a picture of slow living that is rigid, cold, and exclusive. Color is blasphemy. The children wear white linen for gods sake! The families outfits are all color coordinated in the same bland tones as their homes. Oh, and that diversity we’re promised? It doesn’t come from anyone of color. The people who like this book, like this aesthetic. They like calm. And if you left your Wall Street job for this life, I suppose you can afford to dry clean your kids white linen clothes to give you time to play games with them. I am deeply saddened by the unrealistic message and missed opportunity of this book. ... show more

  • Almost perfect.
The book is beautiful. It would have been perfect but it came slightly bent on the top corner. Other than that fast delivery. The content of the book is beautiful.

  • Scrawled
Nice book, but I bought for decoration and don't think they should mess with the outside part of the book, they could stick this think inside the book, and the stick is under the plastic, I can’t remove. ;( and this scrawled plastic can’t be removed because is glued with the cover.

  • Must have home decor book
Just a beautiful home decor book that I’ve been wanting to own. Bought it new. Wouldn’t risk it otherwise.

  • For Display Purpose but Inspired
This book is way bigger and better than expected and although I purchased it for display- I did draw inspiration from it. I’m a sucker for nice and vibrant photos- this book delivered just that.
