  • AMAZINGG!!!!
Flavor Name: Turkey & Duck Size: 5.5 Ounce (Pack of 12)
I have super picky spoiled dogs with a hugeeeee allergies. They cannot eat chicken or beef and this is a great meal topper for their vet prescribed food, to spice things up a little. I love Honest Kitchen. It smells amazing and my dogs do not breakout into hives from this. I am thinking about switching them to turkey kibble from this brand. All their products are so well made. ... show more

  • may become very picky dog's main food
Flavor Name: Turkey Size: 2 Pound (Pack of 1)
my chihuhua mix marcy has been very picky her whole life. when she was a baby her parents' owner gave her and all of her littermates whole rotisserie chickens to eat alongside their normal food, so safe to say she's used to the good stuff and eventually refuses to eat the best quality kibbles i can buy, even when i added things dogs were supposed to love like bone broth. i would have to sit on the floor with her to hand feed her or else she would skip a lot of her meals, which really worried me. I can't afford to feed raw, so i looked for freeze dried alternatives and found this. it took her a bit to warm up to this food, but with the help of some tasty toppers (which didn't really help before, as she would just eat the toppers and leave the rest of the kibble), she eats regularly by herself! This morning she even begged for breakfast, when she's usually lukewarm about mealtime pros: - very affordable on a broke college students salary (for a small dog, that is) - apparently tasty enough to appeal to a dog with taste like a little princess - easy to prepare - doesn't take up a lot of space, but lasts awhile cons: - most of the ingredients in this foods look fantastic, but i have issues with a few of the recipes. Some of them include peas (which i've read may be the reason behind the heart issues that crop up in dogs who eat grain free foods, since legumes like peas or lentils are often used as a replacement filler in them) and garlic (which just isn't that good for dogs to have. I hope/assume its a negligible amount for flavoring, but still), but not all of the recipes include those ingredients (for example, the turkey and beef recipes are all good on that front) so its easy to avoid - the packaging is a little difficult. i didnt get a zip up bag in my box, but that was easy to address with a bag clip. also as you get low on food it gets hard to scoop the powder directly out of this versions box since its not very big, so you'll eventually have to take the bag out and trash the box. this is also not too bad, though Overall, i reccommend it! ... show more

  • A Fantastic Quality Food
Flavor Name: Fish Size: 10 Pound (Pack of 1)
My dog has more allergies than I can shake a stick at, I spent months trying out various foods and brands to find a happy balance between food and environmental allergies. I cannot say that this food has eliminated her allergies - she has dreadful environmental allergies that have been making her miserable since the first day of spring. Since starting this food almost 30 days ago, I've seen a slight decrease in her obsessive itching. Whether it's the food or the constant medicated baths she hates, who can honestly say? While I cannot yet fully judge the food as it relates to her allergies, I can say that this is a top notch quality food. My beagle starts salivating the second she sees me dip the scoop into the box. She's not good at patiently waiting for the food to hydrate, choosing instead to prance around the kitchen and whine at me in protest. Yes, it smells very fishy...but it's fish! Before this food, her fur was thinning and shedding horribly. Now, her fur is healthy, shiny, and light shedding. I do believe it was the allergies that was causing so much loss of fur. We can't go anywhere anymore without people commenting on how soft she is, "you must use conditioner!" or "I bet she just had a bath!" Nope, it's a good quality diet! I removed a star from the rating for one reason: it contains egg. Protein is on the list of potential allergy suspects and chicken is the most likely culprit. I'm worried that the egg contents may throw us off on the "fish only" diet plan. I do see HK now offers a Fish and Coconut food called "Brave" that does not contain any form of chicken. But at $117/month I'd rather drop her onto a homemade diet plan than shell out that kind of money. I love this food, but my wallet does not and is stretched as it is with Zeal. Compared to the thousands in vet costs I've accumulated since rescuing her in March, it's a small price to pay if it means long term relief for her, though. A final side note that I found funny: My cat will not eat this food (he's severely picky and only eats my homemade raw food), but he sure does love rolling himself all over the dog bowl. The bowl smells like a giant fish, so I would bet that's the reason for his wonky behavior. It's certainly entertaining. :) ... show more
