  • This book make a positive impact. Don't miss it
Probably the most important book on relationships I've ever read. Read it slowly, take it in deeply.

  • Thank you Dr. Sue!
Attending a hold me tight workshop saved our marriage and using a workbook like this was a big part of that. Having a place to reflect, write and share our own perspectives with each other led to an amazing moment of forgiveness and healing we desperately needed after 25 years stuck in conflict, confusion and increasing brokenness. Yes, we probably should have been divorced a long time ago. We committed to make a happy and enduring union, but we just couldn’t find our way back to happy no matter how hard we tried. At times we were hanging in there just to bug each other.. When we finally reached a breaking point we somehow found Dr. Sue’s book Hold me Tight and learned it was normal(!) for many couples to fall into conflict over fears of being left, or not needed or feeling unimportant to each other and then to get stuck reacting to each other in ways that just confirm and reinforce those fears and increase our sense of failure and loneliness. That was us for sure. While we did as much as we could on our own; read hold me tight over and over and to each other, tried to have the conversations it introduced, sometimes succeeding, sometimes getting really, really stuck, when we realized we needed more help we signed up for a hold me tight workshop and spent an amazing week with Sam Jinich and the lovely and talented Michelle Gannon in Big Sur and got the support we needed to reach a big moment of forgiveness and healing. In addition to Michelle’s calming presence, the workbook they provided was what helped us the most. Not that I would trade our experience that week for the world, but I think we could have gotten a lot further on our own if we had a workbook like that when we first read the book. Now we do! Thank you Dr. Sue for making this available to couples who might feel helplessly stuck now but can find their way back to each other with a little hope and great tools like this! ... show more

  • Fantastic Book!!
Our therapist recommended this book and it is amazing. I also bought the workbook {also fantastic) I am going to order another book and workbook so we can each have our own. I highly recommend for any couples having issues.

  • Good but challenging
So not therapist-guided, this book can be tough -- lots of good material for processing but my partner and I really struggled at first and still occasionally b/c it really forces you to talk about very hard things. Can go great or sidewaise very quickly. Definitely recommend starting with the book/audiobook of the actual book first ... show more

  • Great for learning the difference between you and your loved one.
At first I was nervous about this book. However, it has helped me learn things not only about my partner and how he feels. It also helped me learn things about myself and how we can come together and work though our issues. I would recommend this book for any couples who need help or just want to get closer within thier relationship. ... show more

  • This has been super helpful
I don’t have the book, only the work book, but the exercises have been helpful for me and my partner. I guess this could have saved past relationships, but the difference really comes down to someone willing to try.

  • Helpful book
The workbook has helpful activities and things to think about and work through with your significant other. It’s helpful to read the book before the workbook.
