Description

A New York Times bestseller (with a special sparkly cover)! Experience the beautiful story that captivated the country about a little owl found in the world's most famous Christmas tree. When Little Owl’s home is cut down by people saying it will make a beautiful Christmas tree, she’s not sure she wants anything to do with Christmas, whatever that means. But then she is saved by a woman named Ellen, whose house is merrily decorated for the holiday, and filled with birds who need someone to care for them. Surrounded by kindness and helpful new friends, Little Owl begins to wonder if Christmas might not be such a bad thing after all…. Co-written by Ellen Kalish, caretaker of the real owl found inside the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, The Christmas Owl is a charming story of friendship, compassion, and the true meaning of this special time of year. • A new Christmas favorite for kids!
This book is perfect for children. The text is well written, the message is heartwarming, and the illustrations are beautiful! Since it is based on a true story, I was able to increase my grandchildren’s knowledge by doing some extensions on animal rescue facilities. Highly recommend!

  • A beautiful book, The Christmas Owl, is based on a true story!
This story is wordy; paragraphs long, and not necessarily designed for readers as young as age 1-4 or 5, but makes for a great story hour with mom and dad reading aloud, and thereafter, the true story of The Christmas Owl: based on the true story of a little owl named Rockefeller will be delightful to read over and over. Highly recommended for a children's book collection. ... show more

  • Wonderful Story and it's TRUE
What an absolutely delightful story to read my 6 year old grandson. Three adults and one child sat riveted as the story was read. Just beautiful! The illustrations are so colorful and as well done as the writing itself. I love everything about this book and the fact that my grandson wanted to read it again the following night is high praise indeed. Thank you to the writer and illustrator of this very fine book. ... show more

  • True story…beautiful illustrations
I’d never heard the story, but really thought the book was a cute idea, especially with the additional information about the lady who cared for the owl after it was found. The graphics were colorful & the story is engaging but simple enough for a toddler. Very well done!

  • Perfect addition to our Christmas books
Every year we add a new Christmas book to our holiday bedtime stories and this was our choice for this year. The storyline is very cute, the illustrations are beautiful and it teaches a wonderful lesson. My kids asked for it again and again this holiday season.

  • Nice holiday book
As an adult, I thought it was cute. My 8 year old, who loves owls, read it once or twice and is not interested. Perhaps it's better suited for younger kids.

  • Very cute story!
This is a cute book based on a true story. My 3rd graders really enjoyed it, and I enjoyed reading it to them as well. It is a little different from your normal Christmas stories.
