Description

In this narrative-driven, third-person survival horror game set 300 years in the future, the player will take on the role of Jacob Lee – a victim of fate thrown into Black Iron Prison, a maximum-security penitentiary located on Jupiter's moon, Callisto. When inmates begin to transform into monstrous creatures, the prison is thrown into chaos. To survive, Jacob must battle his way to safety to escape Black Iron Prison, while uncovering the dark and disturbing secrets buried beneath the surface of Callisto. Using a unique blend of shooting and close-quarters combat, Jacob will need to adapt his tactics to combat the rapidly evolving creatures while scavenging to unlock new weapons, gear, and abilities to outrun the growing threat and escape the horrors of Jupiter's Dead Moon. When EA shutdown the studio that make Dead Space it pretty much shut the door on the franchise for good so the game was announced and that the same people that developed DS are gonna work on it I was pretty hyped and know it was in good hand. Without spoiling too much you play as space cargo ship pilot Jacob Lee who somehow got locked up behind Black Iron penitentiary - a space moon prison for no reason after surviving a hijack while transporting some suspicious cargo. After waking up in his cell he find the whole place in chaos due to some kind of a infectious outbreak and now he have to find a way to get out of there alive. While you are trying to escape you will discover some secrets and the real cause behind the outbreak. After getting the game I was super giggity but after the first few chapters I realized that while the game have amazing graphics and atmosphere, the game got super repetitive fast. Compared to DS, CP is way more melee/close combat focused. After a few enemy encounter you soon realized that combat is pretty attack enemy, dodge/block attacks, use your gun to drive them off occasionally until you kill them. Enemies have very little variety in this game and it's the same strategy for every enemies. There are some stealth/sneaking sections but I found that Jacob moves way too slow and the enemies can find you really easily. And boy there are SO MANY air ducts and tight spaces you have to get through in the game, seriously does the level designer have some kind of fetish for tight spaces? Story wise I can't say much without spoiling but it's a 7/10 for me but I think it has the potential to be as engaging and deep as DS if they hire better writers and work on character building more in future sequels. Overall CP is a good game that is made out of love for DS/sci-fi/survival horror genre but it got held back by its shortcoming. ... show more

I was concerned about this game after reading some reviews, and even considered returning it. I decided to give it a shot and I’m glad I did. Now, it’s not Dead Space so don’t go in with that expectation. The graphics look amazing on my Xbox Series X. People complained about the length, and admittedly I haven’t beaten the game yet so I can’t judge that. I felt compelled to write a review because I had very low expectations based off other reviews and wanted to let people know that it’s a fun game with great graphics. I’ll update if I’m disappointed with the length, but so far it’s a great sci-fi horror game. ... show more

Very solid game and I think fills a void for horror games that sits between doom and resident evil. It does have a hack and slash style combat, but im a fan. Only once or twice did I feel like I had to follow a specific formula to get past a boss/area. I do like the dodging mechanic that so many dislike, but it does have issues if you are after multiple enemies. Switching weapons is slow along with health boosts. I understand they probably did this to make the game look more cinematic or add tension but during boss fights when you are using a lot of resources and need to switch weapons it gets frustrating. I think they should have implemented the slowed time like red dead or doom for weapon switch at the very least. I'm glad this game is action based and doesn't waste time having you circling a huge map finding clues or items needed for puzzles to progress. If you want that, there are plenty of resident evil games. This is an action based horror game that I think sits nicely between Doom and Resident Evil. Yes its pretty linear, but because of that the environments look amazing and the pacing feels good, especially for a casual gamer. ... show more

This game has received so much negative press, I truly don’t understand why. It did have some performance issues at launch, but they were quickly patched. Combat can be wonky, but it doesn’t feel severely underdeveloped as some popular reviewers will lead you to believe. My only major negative was that New Game + wasn’t available at day one (it’s being added on February 7th). I wanted to give the game another run immediately after the first go just to max out all of my gear! This is a good issue to have. Playing on series X and have had it crash a couple of times after long playtime. That said the sound design alone is worth the purchase. Loves taking my time and just listening to it all while exploring the very rich environment. Very high stakes and fast pacing of the storyline amps the urgency and scare factor while the story unfolds. Well acted and recommended. Make sure you have enough ammo for the tram ride or you’re have to start at a previous checkpoint. ... show more

The graphics on my series x is amazing. However the story is left for wanting. Extremely linear game play. Little story. The game focuses way too heavily on melee which by the way is super 'clunky' as they call it. I always play games either on hard or normal but this game is still even too challenging on "easy" mode. The game mechanics make it frustratingly hard with more than one enemy. The protagonist/player dies almost instantly and the so called 'save' button doesn't work. So you have to die over and over and over just to get past each checkpoint. Where is the fun?! ... show more
