  • Great book
Perfect for anyone who wants to learn how to make a camp fire

  • Don't burn your fingers.
This book really helped with our fires. We consider ourselves experts now. That's good for people who grew up in the city.

  • How to build a fire place and wood stove fire
The book is well built (silly as that may sound), but that is best part about it. This book is not what I thought it would be. This book, about 80+% of it, is about making indoor fires and a lot of near useless filler to add pages. The title and the depiction on the cover would suggest that it would be more about making different kinds of fires out and in the woods. The front cover should have a picture of a home fire place instead of a depiction of “tepee”/outdoor fire. I was really looking forward to a bunch of different techniques that my son and I could try out this summer as a bonding and a learning opportunity for both of us. If a book about how to make numerous types of outdoor fires and the reasons why to use a particular setup/style for a particular situation is what you are looking for then save your money; however, if you are looking for a book to teach you how to make a fire in a fire place or for a wood stove and how to stack wood for later use then this is the book for you. This is just about as useless a book as one can buy, so disappointed. For God’s sake there is literally two pages (96-97) devoted to how to strike a match, seriously, can you believe that. I want my money back, what a waste. ... show more

  • Must Have Book For All Men
Ok so I always thought of myself as the master fire crafter in town. But, reading this book, I learned so many more new skills. This book goes in depth like nothing out there. It teaches the basics all the way up to educating me on choosing a wood stove over a fire place. Science based facts that most probably have little idea about. ... show more

  • Great book for teaching scouts about fire safety and building
Good content and the binding of the book acts as a strike plate for matches.

  • good instructions
A fun book with good illustrations.

  • Really basic fire building information
The book is cute, and a quick read, but unless you've never built a fire before I don't know how much you'll really get from it. It would make a great "bathroom book" -- you know, one you keep in the bathroom for something that has interesting info that can be read in small bits while you're enthroned (wait...do people even DO that anymore, or just scroll on their phones...). ... show more

  • Very basic
Book contains only basic and common sense descriptions. The reference to '60 entries on firemaking' made me think there would be techniques useful to survival training....that is not this book
