  • TI-83 Plus
Good calculator. I remember using this in high school, now I'm using this for college algebra. Came brand new with batteries. Works as it should.

  • A Classic Calculator That Still Eats Your Wallet
You would think calculators would get better after being on the market for decades, but there is a limit to their capabilities as exam makers don't want you having a super computer in the palm of your hand when taking tests these days. I really thought I'd seen the last of this calculator in high school, but alas, it's required for University. The TI-83 is an old model and still a reliable calculator. Its use in classes is mainly for its graphing abilities, and it does that fine. However, why does it *still* cost a darn load of money? Because, the manufacturer claims that they don't make the parts anymore, but they can make it—at a high cost. Whatever that means. If you were still mass producing this, you would think the laws of economy would go into effect and this would get cheaper. Apparently, not. This calculator does what it does and if you need a graphing calculator, the TI-83 is the best model to use because of its simple and elegant design, and its sturdiness. Make sure you take out the batteries when it's not in use so it doesn't spill acid inside and ruin your purchase. Once you use it for your classes, you probably won't need it again, and you can sell it back on Amazon. Recommended. ... show more

  • Sticky keys but worth the price
The price for this was very good. Some of the keys in the bottom left are stuck and very hard to press but overtime have gotten easier.

  • Ok missing a cover in used banged up condition not like new as stated
This came without a case. That was not explained prior to buying I thought I was getting the whole calculator and a case. I had to put batteries in to see if it worked and it has several dings. Kinda disappointed not super satisfied. But it's second hand and said it was like new. I don't see like new I see like used and banged up a bit and missing a cover. It took forever to ship too. Pay attention to who you buy it from. ... show more

  • Great Calculator
I used this calculator for my College Algebra class and it was a lifesaver. There are a bunch of tips and tricks out there that you can Google to learn how to use this calculator most efficiently. The user manual, if you get one, is pretty informative but kinda dry and hard to follow. There are a lot of YouTube videos that can show you how to enter simple programs to find the distance between two points, and the factors of a polynomial. The one thing I didn't like is how the calculator handles logarithms. Perhaps it's just my simple understanding but you can't enter logarithms as they are written, Log(sub 2)7 must be entered as log(7) divided by log(2) Enter for answers. It's not that complicated, but it took me a little while to figure this one out. Otherwise, it's a great calculator, the graphing function can be a little slow sometimes, but having a little patience seems to help. Definitely a must need for College Algebra and I'm sure for higher math classes. ... show more

  • Quick purchase excellent condition
Bought the calculator and it came with the cable and batteries and a cover. The cover falls off, however it works. There are small scratches on the cover however it’s been previously loved. It works very well. Glad I bought it for the price I did. It was well worth it.

  • Dependable but outdated
I had ordered the TI-83 Plus for a class this semester. I have no complaints about the build quality or durablility--it is as good as anything else TI has made. But given the age of this model, it lacked a couple of important features that I wanted in a graphing calculator. The TI-84 Plus, for instance, lets you scroll back through your answers and formulas to reuse (and edit) them, and it has display improvements that make it easier to follow your work. For instance, rather than show a square root symbol followed by parentheses on the 83, the 84 puts your number or formula underneath a square root sign. Likewise, rather than show exponents next to the carat symbol (such as 3^8), the 84 makes the exponent into a superscript next to your number, variable or formula. When reading back or troubleshooting formulas, these display difference really improve clarity. I have since sold the 83 and have gotten a TI-84 Plus instead--for the extra $10-$15, I feel it is worth it. The TI-83 Plus is solid, but dated. However, it may be just enough calculator for others' needs, which would warrant the lower price. ... show more
