Very happy with this desk. I also bought the Teraves 39 inch desk to make a small L on the opposite side of the shelves. Works well- the monitor shelf is especially nice as it gives more workspace below. Feels sturdy. Also like that the bookshelf is separate so you can use it attached or detached.

Desk arrived two days earlier than expected! Package looked rough, so I was very worried about the item being damaged, but to my surprise, no damage! Directions were extremely DIFFICULT to understand. There were only pictures & some pieces were never even included in the directions. It was like putting together a metal puzzle. Took approximately 2 hours to put together, and a lot of left over screws/parts. However - the item is relatively sturdy & is definitely an upgrade from the folding table I was using before! Would recommend, just have open mind when putting together :) ... show more

I found it fairly easy to assemble both the desk and the bookshelf. Directions were simple and easy to follow. Material is sturdy but lightweight if you need to move it. Great quality for a great price! I like that the bookshelf can be used independently or attached to desk based on your needs and space. And might I add the desk is bigger than expected, but in a good way, and the bookshelf provides ample space for your stuff. ... show more

I really wanted to like this desk so badly, but I just don't think I can. First of all the assembly instructions are UTTERLY HORRENDOUS. There are so many drill holes in the parts, and without seeing the detail on the instructions it was difficult to know whether the parts were facing the right direction, or needed to be turned 90 degrees. Second, the "feet" would fit in only 2 of the legs (of 8 available legs), and in one of the feet, there wasn't even a part to screw the feet into. So now I have a desk and bookshelf that 1, can't be leveled; 2, must be "shimmed" to stay steady, and 3, can ruin my wood floors. I had to go buy an area carpet just to put under the desk and bookshelf. The parts are of mediocre quality and didn't come out of assembly unscathed. Unfortunately the metal scratches very easily and when I dropped a shelf, the corner ended up dinged with the finish coming off and the particle board underneath exposed. Finally, I do like the raised monitor shelf -- it's the reason I bought the desk. But there isn't a hole in the back to feed the wires through. So there's an accumulation of wires running on the surface of the desk. :-( UPDATE: good customer service follow up to make sure I'm at a point where I am content with the desk, so I added a star. -UPDATE- so after I posted this review I immediately received an email from the company asking if I would like a refund or a new desk. I opted for the refund. They were very timely and you can tell they put pride into their customer service. Company is excellent! This is a beautiful desk. But that’s about it. First, The box was torn and damaged upon arrival. Once opened, parts where everywhere, and styrofoam was all over the place. I had to vaccine the floor 3 times afterwords to get all the tiny styrofoam pieces out of the carpet. Second, the desk was a pain in the butt to put together. One of the legs of the desk that holds the counter part in place is broken, so I can’t put much weight on the desk at all. That part of the desk also looks terrible because of this as well. Don’t waste your money, go for a different option. I regret buying this, especially for the price. ... show more

Took about an hour and a half to assemble. Pretty standard assembly, nothing too crazy. The diagrams were a bit difficult to follow at points, but could always figure it out. The desk seems sturdy and looks exactly like the picture.

I gave four stars instead of five for a couple of reasons but overall, it was pretty easy to put together, even by myself. And, I'm very pleased with its sturdiness and the overall appearance. The gold isn't actually gold but more of a shiny bronze, fyi. It took me altogether about 2-3 hrs. I started with the desk, rather than the back riser of the desk, which I actually chose not to use. The desk was simple and straight forward to assemble. The bookshelf was pretty easy as well, it just would have gone a bit more quickly should there have been another person helping me. Take note of the first step, which is actually not on the back of the instructions as is indicted. The first step is to put on the bottom foot plastic things, which since I didn't see it as an indicated step and therefore didn't do it. While not a huge deal, I can't put them on now that the entire thing has been assembled. Also, the box in which the desk was packaged was not sturdy enough for shipping. The poor UPS guy had a horrible time getting it to my door and it broke en route just from his truck to my front door (which isn't far at all). He kindly helped me slide the broken box into my house--and offered to return it to the sender if I wanted to refuse delivery--but I decided to see what I could do with it. It was honestly such a hot mess that I had to take out each piece one by one and Styrofoam and plastic were all over my porch and inside my house. That could have gone a lot easier had the box been able to sustain the weight of the desk and bookshelf. All in all, I'd recommend as the bookshelf connects to the desk and is super handy for printers and other desk-related stuff. ... show more

This is a simple desk to construct. While the instructions could be a bit clearer, you dont need to be an engineer to construct it. I did it all on my own in about an hour. It looks good and works well as a desk and shelf. I elected not to attach the shelf to the desk, but keep them separate. It works either way.
