My unit arrived on 8-31-2020. I didn't have the most common issue complained about here: The menus are in US English. The box details are in English. What literature there is in English. The unit arrives sporting firmware version V16.03.09.04_multi but suggests I update it to V16.03.09.05(5550). I'll get around to it but not tonight. The setup is dead simple. The menus are not robust like an Asus RT-AC but they're more than sufficient. I like the unit. The 2.4GHZ band is strong as an OX. Playing around with my devices to see how much the Beamforming improves the most distant ones. I have three Rokus in the same general direction away from the unit. The farthest one from the router location has never been reliable on 5GHZ. When I first connected it, Roku said the connection was "fair." After streaming all three of those Rokus for an hour, the most distant one still reports "fair" so I may need to play with the antenna positioning. There has been no buffering even on the distant one so the signal is much improved. I should mention that I'm replacing a damn fancy Asus RT-AC88U. The menus are a cultural shock - The Asus had dozens of not hundreds of little tweaks you can make. I found that overwhelming and I'm a network engineer. I can only image the average user trying to make sense out of the advance settings on that router. Final thought... I put some tall stick-on rubber feet on the bottom of this router. In my experience, heat is the number one cause of failure in routers, lightning being #1, so I maximized the airflow under the unit by doing so. I recommend everyone try to maximize the airflow under these devices. We keep getting faster processors and chipsets in these things and more speed makes.... More heat. ... show more

I haven't had this router very long but I am satisfied with it so far. Was easy to install and set up. I wasn't familiar with the brand but decided to give it a try anyway. I'm glad I did. It's better than the one that I replaced. I get much better speed tests on my PC which is wired. Everything else is Wi-fi. My phone gets a faster speed test too. All my devices run smooth and steady. I noticed an improvement on my outdoor cameras too. I do recommend this router. ... show more

Amazing performance and range. I live in a smaller house. I can get over 900mbps on Speedtest throughout the house on 6ghz WiFi connected to an iPhone 15 pro. I had read a review that said it wasn’t faster but these results are amazing. My xfinity router maxed out at 600 on 5ghz. I tried an asus with some QoS enabled and only achieved 250. I can’t tell how well it prioritized traffic. When doing some super fast downloads maxing out my gigabit internet service and wifi, ping times in league of legends can rise from 55ms to 500ms. Silly limitation. The WAN port is only gigabit Ethernet. So it’s not possible to get more than 1000mbps even though WiFi 6e should be able to do it. Many other WiFi 6e routers do have higher speed wan port. But other than that I’m super happy with it so far. Far exceeds my expectations. ... show more

I picked this up to use as a dedicated router for Steam Link and Air Link for my Meta Quest 3 after reading a few other reviews saying it worked well. I have my PC wired to the router and my headset is on 6Ghz with 160Mhz and I can play half life alyx without issue. The limiting component now for me is my GPU. If you need a cheap wireless link to your PC for your Quest 3 pick this up its well worth it. ... show more

Do NOT buy this router no matter how attractive the price is. Do a web search for “Tenda Router RCE CVE-2020-10987,” this router is full of security risks that you will read for yourself. There is NO tech support. Tenda did not reply to my request for assistance. A day after I installed the router strange things started happening to my computer that I mistook for malware. My Norton could not find any malware so I installed AVG Ultimate VIP. Then alert notifications started popping up, lots of alerts. It got so bad (of course changed ALL passwords) I had to uninstall Windows 10 Pro, wipe it and reinstall it. Had to do lots more to protect my home network. CAVEAT EMPTOR!! ... show more

All wifi routers burn out over time. Depending on the quality of the chips determines how long it will last. In my experience it is the 2.4ghz band that wears out because that is the heaviest used band. I bought this router because it was a pain to exchange my xfinity router and the 2.4ghz band is burnt out on it. When I first started using the Tenda router the speeds and ping times were lightning fast and I had zero complaints. Now we are at the six month mark and the router gets overloaded with too many devices and the ping times become very bad. I will say my house has very heavy wifi usage. I have seven cell phones, three fire tv's, several tablets, a ps4 and ps5, and a handful of home devices that use wifi. All of these devices on and streaming video or transferring large amounts of data. So it is a demanding load all day long. I can tell by how the router is acting now I will be having to replace it within the next six months. After routers start not being able to keep up and ping times increase, the next thing will be the router will start dropping connections. So in closing I think this is a nice router for the price and the range is good. If you are in a household that has light wifi usage then this router will probably last you a long time. If you are a heavy wifi using household than this may not be the router for you. ... show more

I bought this because another reviewer had mentioned that they were using it for Virtual Desktop with Quest 3 and the 6E channel was strong. That's been my experience as well. It's clearly a "value" device and somewhat limited in configuration options, but the hardware seems solid and it works well with the Quest 3's WiFi 6 functions.
