Top Amazon Reviews

  • This has been the answer I have been looking for, and I stumbed on it by accident, sort of....
Color: RP-SMA Plug 2Pack
Ok so TECHTOO has been asking me for a review on this item numerous times. Well here it is. How things are (were): Computer: Home made Gaming machine, multiple video cards (I am a computer nerd BTW. Professional engineer for 20+ Years.) Router: TP-Link WNDR-3600 Wireless Antenna: Alfa Networks. Had to once you read about my residence. ISP: Charter 60 Down 4 UP Residence: 150 year old brick building. Brick as in everything. Although the router is only about 50 feet away as the human walks, Probably 30 feet as the crow flies, I was getting OK reception. By that I mean, I had maybe half the bars. And that was of course with the Alfa antenna hanging high in a vertical pattern. I have 2 brick walls to negotiate to get to the wireless router. Now I see you all shaking your head and asking "Why not just drop in some cat 6". Well again, BRICK. Anyway, I bought an (redacted) AP ONLY as I have built my own firewall/router and it did not have wireless. And guess what? The AP does NOT come with any antennas. Yes, bought new from amazon, and says right on the box. But who reads things any more. NONE. Is that a scam or what? Who sells a device who's only function is not included? PROS: -Running Speedtest.net on charters own fiber lines (Location not given) numerous times I was only get 26 meg download. Really, this is more than enough for me. I simple removed the 5" Long antennas and replaced them with these 9DB and I now am getting 45 meg download. Upload was 4 in all scenarios. That is almost DOUBLE the speed and my phone, which got no reception in my office, sitting right next to the alpha now gets 4 of 5 bars. This is awesome. Now I don't know if this was for 2.4ghz only or not, don't remember, but it works great in that area. Neutral: -Because this router had 5GHZ as well as 2.4GHZ I think it was difficult to find an antenna that kinda, sorta, fell in the middle. And 5GHZ is not even a harmonic so the world has struggled with that. But unless you own a MAC or a newer android you don't even know how many 5GHZ networks are probably around you. I have shut off this "feature" on the router and got the same results. I don't think it would do well with these antennas and I was not using it anyway. I might be wrong. Again didn't read, even this ad before writing this and I am not about to now. It may sway what I say. Cons: -LONG - These guys are long so if you are looking for something easy to hide, yeah, not gonna happen. If you look at photo they are plugged in at what is the base of a 42" LCD TV. So you can judge scale. AND remember these are Omni-directional so they have to go up and down (Vertically) to work the best or really at all. If you put them horizontal, you are asking for trouble with reception. That is the only con some people may see. For me, I am a geek, that is the LEAST geekiest thing in my home. Summary: This is a great product if you need to extend your existing router. Just make sure your antennas unscrew and that the screw in is the RP-SMA or you will be having an issue. Professionally I have quite a few clients looking to extend the range just a little bit without the purchase of another AP and the cost to run a line. I have a Hotel that has struggled with a far back room on the second floor from AP2 and struggling with the Bar area AP1. I will be talking to him about replacing those out with this. Think of DBI as a sort of multiplier of signal. You are able to only go so far before the equation falls apart. So I stumbled on these antennas cause I needed them. I stumbled on this person selling them because I am cheap. And WOW, it really fits like a glove. NOW the real test. There is at least one of you out there reading this that is saying, well what about your firewall? Well thank you for asking, you may put your hand down. I am going to be installing that tomorrow and this TP-LINK router has served it's purpose but will be toss in the computer bone yards. (Yes we have electronics recycling here and I am very green) The antennas will then be moved to the new AP ONLY that I bought and we shall go marching on. I did have a chance to talk to one of the gentlemen over at TechToo via email and they also have a YAGI antenna. These would be directional antennas. Remember back in the days of TV antennas up on the roof. That smaller section in the middle? Well it is kinda like that. Yagi's are great if you need to beam your signal somewhere else. If you have a man cave out in the garage or other outside dwelling, or an open yet narrower spot like a fire pit or something this would be great. I work with wireless a lot and it has not been since 2008 I have seen anything strict but it sounds like TechToo has numerous offerings. There are some business that do not want their wireless going beyond the walls, but total coverage and power turn down or up can only go so far. NOTE: I AM NOT BEING PAID IN ANYWAY FOR THIS REVIEW. I HAVE NOT BEEN GIVEN ANYTHING. EVERYTHING EXPRESSED HERE WAS FROM MY OWN KNOWLEDGE, TESTING , AND HAPPY ACCIDENT I FOUND THEM. They will be getting a lot more business from me in the future. ... show more

  • Instant improvement!
Color: RP-SMA Plug 2Pack
30 seconds to install (most, if not all, wifi cards and router antennas are hot swappable, no need to shut everything down), and we're in business. Linux wavemon utility reports that the "Link quality" metric went from 60% to 90%. WAN speed tests confirm that. I call it a win. PS: In case you were wondering whether or not these antennas work properly with 5-6 GHz networks... Yes, absolutely. ... show more

  • Great replacement antennas--NO ADDITIONAL PERFORMANCE OVER STOCK ANTENNAS!
Color: RP-SMA Plug 2Pack
I bought a new home on several acres that had Ring cameras installed at the doors, so I bought a couple more cameras with the intention of placing them in the backyard for additional security, and the occasional wildlife amusement (by the way, Ring sucks as security cameras, don't buy those for anything beyond a doorbell!). I immediately found the camera barely functioned at my fireplace deep in the backyard, so I bought 3 different "MIMO" "Dual Band" supposedly high gain antennas hoping to pump up the volume deep in my yard. I meticulously tried all three with the same very fast Netgear R6700 AC1750 router that has 3-antenna MIMO and is dual band. I get 50-60Mbps in my house, even floors away, but still the Ring camera struggled out back (maybe 40 yards back), and I intended to go MUCH deeper than that later. Since I was only getting 18-24Mbps out there I thought at least one of these antennas would make a big difference. Spoiler alert--WRONG. I have attached my results table as a photo, since this unformatted table is hard to read, but: Router Antenna Band Download (Mbps) Upload (Mbps) Ping (ms) Jitter (ms) Location Netgear R6700 Bingfu 2.4 GHz 16 11 10 3 Attic Netgear R6700 Techtoo 2.4 GHz 37 16 8 1 Attic Netgear R6700 Techtoo 5 GHz 228 80 8 1 Attic Netgear R6700 Eightwood 2.4 GHz 12 5 25 122 Attic Netgear R6700 Stock 2.4 GHz 24 18 10 45 Attic Netgear R6700 Stock 5 GHz 263 134 8 1 Attic Verizon Home internal 2.4 GHz 29 6 10 3 1st Floor Punchline: The Bingfu and Eightwood antennas were worse than the Netgear stock antennas. 2nd Punchline: The (huge) Techtoo antennas are the best choice of these three, and the download performance in this case was slightly better than the stock antennas at 2.4GHz, and while they worked great at 5 GHz, the stock ones were much faster. The other two antennas didn't even show up at 5GHz :) Note that this testing was done on my Samsung Galaxy S9+, standing in the same spot, the same way, in front of the Ring camera. Note I'll be returning the Ring cameras, they are just terrible security cameras in every conceivable way, and the final kicker here is that they don't even support 5 GHz Wifi!! They are a slick concept, with an uber-friendly interface...but they just don't work well. I'll be continuing my search for a more directional, higher gain antenna that I can point at the back yard and reach further, faster, but none of these three are it. If you need replacement antennas, of these three buy the Techtoo, they are great, just no better than stock. • Outside diameter of the connector
Color: SMA-Plug 1Pack
Be aware the the outside diameter of the connector may not allow usage on the monitor, thankfully with a slight modification to my rv mounting location I was able to use the antenna. This has not yet been tested on the road but signal appears good stationary.
