  • If you like to gamble, these are for you
Size: 16GB-x 3 Pack Color: C183 Architect
Let me start with the fact that these are a decent value at the cost I paid, 3 16GB Flash Drives for 16 Bucks at the time of purchase. 2 Failed in less than 1 month with Cyclic Errors and Unreadable I/O Errors 1 is currently still working The RMA response time was excellent, however, I will not be RMA'ing these drives, as you will be required to pay 1 way return shipping. At the cost of these drives, it's not worth the hassle, time and money to return them. Item's like this should be good faith; destroy the damaged goods, and be shipped out replacements..these are not $200 motherboards, cpu's or graphics cards..they are simply defective flash memory. Site Note: Direct Quote from Customer Service: "We don’t suggest to use our UFD as bootable USB drive, which is a special usage and might cause this USB drive to crash." I was not using them in this way, and it's a good thing I was not. I work in IT *Network Field Technician", imagine being on site for a critical response and thinking that the 3 brand new drives you bought would work..You would only be 1/3 correct, in this assumption. This is not what I can came to expect from Teamgroup. Their RAM is Excellent (Dark Za) their SSD's {VULCAN) are good, but I can't say the same about the USB Flash Memory. ... show more

  • It's not the fastest drive, but the b u i l d q u a l i t y . . .
Size: 64GB Color: T183 Dark Knight
tl;dr: This thing doesn't benchmark all that well for a USB3.1 drive, but man it's built like a f██ing tank. So let's get some quick pointers out the way: PROS: • The build quality is so nice. It feels like you'd cramp your hands trying to bend this thing in half, and it's got a good heft to it that most thumb drives don't have. • The "multi-tool" aspect of it actually seems legit considering how substantial it feels. I wouldn't shy away from actually using it as a bottle opener, although it is a little small in terms of grasping it for that. The "box cutter" aspect of it seems like it might work decently, considering the point is thinner than a key (which we all know opens boxes just fine) but still not that fine-edged to be considered a blade. CONS: • It's really not the fastest drive by a long-shot. For the price, it's not surprising and I didn't purchase it with that expectation, but still that's some relatively "meh" speed. So yeah. I bought this drive as a replacement for a flimsy Sandisk I forgot at someone's house after a job. I liked the novelty of it being some kinda multi-functional tool; I thought it looked unique and regardless of whether or not it could actually do those things well I was willing to give it a shot. To my surprise it feels really solid in hand, which isn't surprising considering the unibody shell is supposedly made from steel (many of Teamgroup's flash drives are). That being said, I'd be weary putting this thing in the same pocket as your smart device, considering most phone frames are aluminum. An awesome flash drive in terms of build quality, enough to make me leave a review. ... show more

  • Tiny Cache & Shady Practices
Size: 256GB Color: C183 Architect
I read all types of reviews and my experience has been similar. I know TEAMGROUP is a real company. They do make nice SSD's and RAM. However, their USB division is terrible and it's very misleading! This USB Flash drive is great if you going to transfer a little bit of data. Some have stated that it's slow and some say the cache is small. All of this is true! I get bursts into the 100-120 MB/second for 3-5 seconds. Once the cache fills up, it slows down to under 1 MB/second. The cache for me is 1-2 GB. It takes about 20 seconds to dump the cache and then it starts the process over again. Yeah the OS is going to give you false time remaining. Don't trust it. It's going to take longer than the time remaining if it's a large data transfer. I benchmarked this drive for kicks. It's pretty fast when you compare it to others brands that cost double. The results are: [Read] Sequential 1MiB (Q= 8, T= 1): 269.567 MB/s Random 4KiB (Q= 32, T=16): 14.294 MB/s [Write] Sequential 1MiB (Q= 8, T= 1): 78.810 MB/s Random 4KiB (Q= 32, T=16): 15.483 MB/s Yet again. The problem is the small cache (1-2 GB). With a cache at this size, this is close to USB 2.0/3.0 performance. Their listed disclaimer: "Transmission speed will vary according to different hardware/software conditions, therefore the data can only use for basic reference." That disclaimer is complete BS! A general statement such as this probably covers them from complaints and lawsuits. They could defend themselves by saying 3rd party software is "interfering" with the speed or the consumer inputted the drive into a USB 2.0 slot. Pretty shady legal loophole if you ask me. In the end, I did a 185 GB transfer. It took 2 hours and 20 minutes to transfer. If the cache wasn't so small, it would of taken about half that time. Pretty disappointing. I can not recommend this TEAMGROUP product and the company is quite questionable in my eyes now. Personally, I won't be spending money with TEAMGROUP again. Spend the extra $15-$20 and buy another brand that offers a flash drive with a bigger cache. ... show more
