I have bought „Teach Yourself Visually“ books since 2011; they are unbelievably helpful in installing, activating and using the various iPhones and other devices. They guided me every step through learning all the features of both my iPhones 8 and X. The many colored pictures make even the more complicated processes easy to master.     • DIAGRAMS HARD TO READ!
I thought this book was excellent as I viewed it online in the free preview, but when I purchased it and received it, I was highly disappointed. The explanations are excellent, but the Figures or Diagrams are too tiny to read and distinguish. Even though the main text explains everything in detail, the teeny tiny print on diagrams was too hard to read. If the author or publisher could just make the book about one or 2 inches wider the diagrams would have been useful as I expected them to be. Purchasing the online version may have proven to be more helpful and easier to read. ... show more

    • This Book Has It All!
This book has it all for the iPhone novice, which is what I am. Whether you need answers to basic questions or detailed, this book will help. I would suggest, however, that readers simply use the phone as they might normally use it, but, using this book, gradually explore features as they need them. The book is probably thus used as a reference over a longer period of time. Over time, many features of the phone may never be used by many people, but just knowing what capabilities are available gives us confidence that if we do want to delve into them, this book will show us how to do that. ... show more

    • This book does not have it all
For the most part the book is clear and the steps one needs to take are well photographed. Today I decided to learn how to make videos to which the book only dedicates two pages. I was able to figure out the video part and then wondered if it would automatically record the sound. The answer is no. I looked at numerous topics in the table of contents and could find nothing about adding audio to a video. By using other resources on the internet I figured out that one has to go into settings and muck around with the control center. The book has no information about this and I am concerned that the writers could leave out such a basic and important topic. I looked at some videos and tutorials and finally figured out how to activate the sound but it took me almost an hour. ... show more
