  • Immersive Viewing Experience
Picture quality is great especially when your media sources is 4k UHD, HDR10, or Dolby vision. I'd recommend using an apple tv and a 4k UHD blu ray player. Speakers are impressive for a TV. No sound bar or avr system is required unless you prefer the immersive sounds those provide. The TV is very wide and wont fit on most entertainment centers. To mount, refer to the spec sheet to ensure your VESA mount is the correct size and meets the weight requirements. Lifting will require at least two people. ... show more

  • Looks great
I think the overall picture looks great, especially with 4K, SDR and HDR content. All streaming services have different levels of 4K quality but I have found Netflix and Disney to shine and look incredible. Remember garbage in, garbage out with video quality. For instance, you will see a lot of YouTube videos that say 4k but look like pixelated messes because of compression but don't let that fool you. Look up some good 8k content of things like Dubai or rainforest and you can really see what it can look like with quality content. I have this hooked up through my AVR and no issues with Arc. My Xbox X looks amazing on this TV and gaming is like butter. The TV is very bright and the OS is ultra smooth. So far I have found very few bugs or downside yet. I think the only bug that I have seen is if the xbox gets turned on and TV automatically switches inputs to the Xbox through AVR that I don't get sound. I need to just click the HDMI port on the AVR to get sound. Sounds just like a setting or handshake issue. ... show more

  • Awesome Huge TV
Bought this TV after it went on sale and was some impressive reviews on Youtube. Picture quality is as good as any TV I have seen, crystal clear. Saw some reviews here that says video is blurry. I think this depends on the source more than the TV itself. I use an Apple TV 4K and every has great picture quality. I tested on over the air antenna TV and video is not as good. Many channels are just standard definition and HD is 1080p at best, not 4k. I did not have to adjust any settings on the TV. You may have to make minor settings on your devices to get the best picture quality. For example I had to enable Dolby Vision on my Apple TV 4K. The menu system is easy and simple to navigate, very responsive to your imput, no lag. Overall, very impressed and happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • Best large screen 4k LED TV!
The TCL XL Collection 98 inch 4k TV has Google TV as the installed OS...This is by far the best possible operating system available today! It allows you to enjoy and install as many Apps you can possibly get! The screen on the TCL is huge at 98 inches diagonal...and there are zero "hot spots" or dead pixels!! Best value for the dollar anywhere. Both Samsung and LG use totally obsolete operating systems that are NOT user friendly! Even after hours and hours of watching this TV is still is amazing. Highly recommend this product!! ... show more

  • Part 1: Concerns other than picture quality/ Part 2: Picture Quality
Part : This TV is still sitting on the floor and has not been connected. The reasons for this are the subject of this review. Particularly with big TVs (bigger than 85”) you need to pay close attention to the VESA dimensions unless you are using the feet. I suspect few people with actually use the feet because this TV is so big, it will not fit on most furniture. For example, I have a home theater table with its own mount. The table is 72” wide and that is about 10” too short (the mount is also too small). Designing the feet/base to fit most home theater tables would have been really nice! Thought given to these factors would have made this a truly outstanding TV. This is still a lot of TV for the money. At the time of this review, this TV cost me $4,000 which is a low price for any 98” TV. However, keep in mind that this amount of money can get you an 83” OLED TV with none of the issues I am dealing with. In my case, my current HT table with its integrated mount would have fit an 83” OLED with none of the issues I am presently dealing with. I just recommend that you honestly consider your needs and how much you are willing to go thru to mount and use a really big TV. And here are where the issues come into play. The VESA dimensions for this TV are 400mm x 850mm. The 400mm is common, but most mounts only go as wide as 800mm, not 850. I think the make should have taken the dimensions available in the TV mount market into account. Second, the manufacturer should have assumed this TV would be wall mounted. However, the connections on this TV are not designed for this. I highly recommend a mount that sticks out a bit, like a mount with a tilt function to make it easier to get at the connections on the back without having to take the TV off the wall which is a major league PITA for a TV of this size and weight. The first wall mount I purchased as not wide enough and hopefully, the second one will work. The second one advertises itself as handling up to 300 lb TVs which is well in excess of the 135 lb weight of this TV. However, the make recommends one 5 times the weight of the TV which is another way of saying that we will not be responsible if the TV falls off the wall. I’m hoping that this is the end of my challenges, but I can see others. For example, the HDMI connection is on one side of the TV. Not an issue for most TVs, but on a TV this big, I’m worried that the HDMI cable on my center channel might not be long enough. In sum, I think insufficient thought was given to how this TV would be used. IOW, make connections easily accessible if wall mounted. If you have feet, place them close enough to work on most HT tables which are not wider than 72” typically. And do you really think I’m going to spend this much money on a TV and rely on the TV for sound??? So make sure it easily integrates with a center channel. I would not be surprised to learn that I need to mount the center channel on the wall as well just to make the connection. Part 2: Picture Quality. The TV is now mounted on the wall which was in part an unnecessary PITA (See Part 1). First impressions. For cinematic impact, there is simply no substitute for size. I questioned whether everything I went thru was worth. It was. That said, picture quality straight out of the box is disappointing. The good news is that the standard settings are crap and can be changed to MUCH better settings. Change the TV to movie mode and get on the internet for other settings. Once you do this, the picture is great. Last comment, I never listened to the sound from the TV and neither should you. This is an expensive TV. It makes NO sense to pay this much for a TV and then cheap out on the sound. I won’t make any recommendations but merely this observation: cinematic picture quality deserves cinematic sound. I leave it to you to decide what that is. Overall if you have the space and the budget, this is definitely a TV to consider, especially if it is on sale. ... show more

  • Good Bye Projectors
PS5 gaming and watching movies on this thing is amazing. I picked it up for a great deal, which in my world made it right on the upper end of affordable for $4k. There are exactly 0 alternatives competing in this price range if you’re looking for a true home theater size backlit TV. Samsung and Sony are the other legitimate companies selling ultra large TV’s, and those products are over $10k. I will knock it on color hue just a bit. So far, I’ve found it hard to adjust the color settings such that warm and cool are balanced, but flesh tones and vegetation/green tones aren't overly red or yellow. It’s still fantastic, but I’m not sure I can dial in that specific balance perfectly. The menus are very responsive - thus alleviating one of my concerns with every Roku TCL I’ve owned. I would expect a nicer remote at the price, but it gets the job done. The on board sound is decent, having Atmos and DTS capability. It’s been hard to control sound dynamics - action packed scenes are overly loud when volume is up to hear dialogue. ... show more
