  • Great TV
Size: 32-Inch
I bought this TV for about $170. I chose it based on the great price and the fact it was a smart TV. When looking through the different models I found another TLC that wasn't a smart TV, and I considered buying it since it was $20 less; I'm glad I didn't though, and I hope my review backs this up. Like I said before, a regular TV would have done the job for me. I'm not planning on paying cable, so an antenna, my laptop and a hdmi cable was all I needed. Nevertheless I found this smart TV which came with a bunch of preinstalled apps such as Netflix and Holu, this intrigued and I ended up paying the extra $20. My experience so far: 1.- Not having cable, I'm enjoying the Netflix experience quite a lot. I might even join Holu. Besides this, there are other preinstalled channels which every now and then offer free media as well, such as Crackle, CNN, Fox, and whatever Roku offers or might offer in the future. .1a.-Being realistic here, you could get a Roku box and plug it to your TV, and voila, you have Roku TV and a sort of smart TV. You could even watch Netflix from your smartphone or laptop... But it's really satisfying to just plug your TV, set the WiFi, and watch what you want instantly. In that aspect, I'm really satisfied and I'm glad I got this TV over the regular one. 2.- The TV is extremely light, and it looks great considering it's 720p. I can say I'm satisfied with the quality of the image. 3.- TLC is a completely ghost brand to me. I bought their product merely because it was great great price and it seemed to offer very intriguing new features. I can't tell whether this TV will last forever, or if it's better than this or that bran, but initial price and capabilities enticed me enough to want to take the risk and be a new customer. . 3a.- Despite it being so light, I haven't yet found any signs of low quality. It feels like any Samsung would, cant complain. 4.- The sound is OK, neither Amazing nor Awful. It's quality is enough to make you not think about it. 5.- The remote control is awkward at first, there's a learning curve, but once you get a hold of it it becomes a great tool. Very easy and specially fast to use. 6.- As a smart TV this product does not offer much more than preloaded streaming Channels and services. This means there is no Web browser of any kind, or Skype, or Web cam, or motion detection. No. None of that. . 6a.- That being said, I still like the TV a lot, and like I said, there a sense of enjoyment in waking up and pressing the Netflix button and having your favorite show right there. . 6b.- Roku: I COULD STILL USA A WEB BROWSER THOUGH... 7.- The TV arrived in half the time it was supposed to. Awesome. Amazon offered free shipping and I expected to get my TV in a week, but it arrived in 3 days if I remember correctly, quite a nice surprise considering how eager I was to... watch TV. So far I'm loving this baby, in fact I want this same TV in a bigger size, just because. I'd advise anyone in a similar situation to get this TV since it's so inexpensive. I'll try to update this review about the quality of the TV in the long run. ... show more

  • A Nice TV and Customer Service was very good!
Size: 32-Inch
I had some problems with this TV so I wanted to wait until after I dealt with customer service before writing my review. The good news is that customer service was fantastic! We are thinking of cutting the cord from cable and since I have a Roku box and account, this makes perfect sense on paper. And for the most part I think they executed it pretty well. The set up couldn't have been any easier except it would be great if you could plug in a wireless keyboard. I haven't read anywhere that this is possible and I haven't tried it. But if you have a Roku or other smart tv and type in usernames and passwords or search for things, you know what a pain it is to arrow left, right, up, and down to click on letters. But this isn't specific to this TV, it's the same on any of them I've tried. So what was my issue? When watching local channels over the antenna, the screen would freeze after about 5 minutes with it sounding like a record that is skipping (if you remember those days). And not just the screen, the whole TV would lock up and the remote wouldn't work. I couldn't even turn it off. I had to unplug it. It seemed to be okay on Roku and other online channels. I emailed support and they said I'd have to send it in and that it would be repaired or replaced. I had saved the box so when they sent the prepaid shipping label, it was a piece of cake. I was notified when they received it. They said it is usually 3-5 days for repairs or to be notified of a replacement. After about a week I got an email that from FedEx that it was on it's way. It took a bit longer but that was fine, this was being used as a second TV. I sent them an email and was told it was repaired, not replaced. I'm happy to report that the repairs were successful! I haven't had any issues with the TV and it's been about two weeks since I've had it back. Pros: -- Built in Wi-Fi -- Built in Roku -- Pausing of Live TV by using a USB drive (I don't remember that being in the description on Amazon) -- Very easy to merge your other TV accounts like Hulu, Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc. -- My cable company (Charter Spectrum) has an app so I can watch my cable channels on here without paying the monthly fee for a second TV -- The sound is pretty good for a small TV -- The picture is great! I'm not one to look for the latest, greatest thing with the highest possible resolution. But I would consider this a VERY good picture! Cons: -- Pausing doesn't work with my cable app but I think it works on other online stations. So this might not be the TVs fault. -- No number pad on the remote. I get about 20-30 stations over the air and have to arrow up and down (which is slow due to a bit of a delay between channels) or bring up a list of channels which allows a much faster scrolling to get to your channel -- I could do without the "quick launch" buttons at the bottom of the remote. It's too easy to hit them accidentally and jump off of the show you are watching. A warning on the screen asking if you want to change would be nice so you could click 'No'. -- Coming from cable, I miss not having an on-screen guide for the local channels but is that the TVs fault? If the local channels send the program info over the airwaves, couldn't the TV have been programmed to grab it and present it in a "guide" format? -- I don't really like the volume and mute buttons on the side of the remote. I get it - they wanted to keep the remote size very small. But I can't tell you how many times I bump the mute just by picking up the remote. Overall I would buy this brand again. It's amazing light, and the only physical set up is four screws to put the legs on. I'm happy to answer any questions if you're thinking of buying one of these! ... show more
