Description

A tarot deck featuring 78 beautifully illustrated cards and a 96-page guidebook that teaches kids about tarot and how to perform readings. Ages 8 and up. Tarot is a great resource for advice, decision-making, understanding how to help your friends and family, making plans, avoiding drama, creative thinking, learning to trust your intuition, and so much more. Plus, it’s a lot of fun! Kids will love learning to read tarot, on their own or with their friends. The deck features 78 beautiful cards illustrated by Kailey Whitman, based on the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck. A few have been modified for this age group―for example, the “death” card is “change,” and the “lovers” card is “friends.” The guidebook has everything kids need to begin, including a brief history of tarot, the meanings of the cards, and how to perform readings. It also includes resources to help kids set goals, build friendships, adjust an attitude, and listen to their own inner wisdom. As author Theresa Reed, aka The Tarot Lady, reminds us: “The cards tell a story, but you write the ending.” Read more

  • What a beautiful gift for adults and kids alike
I recently bought this tarot deck not having had any experience with tarot or really knowing what it was. I guess I sort of thought of tarot as some sort of hokey fortune telling prop. I got it because I was (and still am) planning to use it as part of my Halloween costume this year. It turns out, though, that it’s not hokey or artificial at all. I’m finding that it’s actually a really cool tool for having beautiful and important conversations with my children and with myself as well…almost like a guided meditation. It has helped give me insight into what is happening in my kids’ lives: helped them put what they’re experiencing into words, and guided me in asking useful questions to reveal how they’re thinking/feeling about things. My kids are feeling seen and heard and I am so grateful. The cards use classic archetypes to help kids make sense of big world things - just as we read fairy tales to our kids when they are little to help them learn how the world works or to teach them important life lessons, tarot, too, uses pages, knights, queens, kings, fools, magicians, towers, etc. It helps kids see the bigger picture and work out the puzzles they’re confronting in their daily lives. Regular practice also helps kids learn how to identify and listen to their gut feelings. They learn to trust their own intuition to help them make difficult decisions or to see them through challenging times. I would have LOVED this sort of thing as a tween/teen. What a gift. There are no doubt several other tools out there for this sort of open dialogue between parents and kids, but since every kid/person is different and what works for one isn’t necessarily what works for another, I thought I’d share my experience. This deck is so beautiful and thoughtful and kind. I can see us using it for many years to come. ... show more

  • Fantastic illustrations
As a professional psychic I was curious after decades of the author blogging, what The Tarot Lady(author theresa reed) would come up with for a deck. I really like it. There are mostly traditional designs so it doesnt cross the line into censorship. Example, 3 swords still depicts swords thru the heart. But 10 of swords, the swords go into the ground. But the changes ms. Reed did make were skillful and respectful of ms. Coleman Smith's original art. Example, devil replaced by 2 bulls and called, the bully. Tower is still there (removed depiction of impailed humans), lovers replaced by best friends, and hanged man replaced by a child hanging from their knees on a tree branch, patience. Its genius because the illustration are different but the concept generally is unchanged. I love them for youth, yes, but anyone who feels Intimidated or turned off by the traditional coleman smith deck, or is worried about them being "a tool of the devil" haha. This is more digestible and accessible without compromising the integrity. The cards are large and you can't shuffle them with the same ease as traditional sized tarot cards, is my only hardship. Very happy to have purchased these, and that's saying something since I do not own more than one tarot deck. Glad I made room for one more. ... show more

  • Great for kids, and adult learners too!
Such a lovely deck! I like that the cards are a bit bigger than usual - much easier for little hands to hold. The artwork is really lovely. It’s a great balance of making the cards accessible and inviting for children while honoring the original Pamela Coleman Smith artwork. Someone who learned with this deck would have an easy time with an RWS-based deck in the future. The guidebook is also fantastic. It breaks down the traditional card meanings into simple (but not babyish!) language and offers questions for reflection. I would highly recommend it both for children who are curious and adults who want a charming, clear, and thorough introduction to tarot. ... show more

  • This is a BRILLIANT TAROT DECK and a MUST HAVE!
The media could not be loaded. This is the deck that I WISH I HAD as a child. Theresa Reed explains all in a clear, positive, thoughtful way in the accompanying book. "The Lovers" card is the "The Best Friends" card and "Death" is "Change". Theresa also includes one solid bold sentence in her book for easy learning above each in-depth description. For the Magician, she writes - "You are smart and powerful. You can do it." This deck is a treasure for children to help them navigate daily life - these cards are little friends! I am grateful that Theresa came up with this brilliant deck for kids everywhere. The artwork is stunning - the deck is inclusive and beautiful. A treasure for any child and adult! I would also recommend this deck to adults - Theresa's beautiful meanings for the cards make it fun to learn and the artwork by Kailey Whitman is soulful and connected. This is the PERFECT gift for the children in your life or your inner child! ... show more

  • Good cardstock but the cards are very large
This is a cute deck, with soft, welcoming art that invites you in. The cards are good quality mass market cardstock, but they do ding a bit easily due to their large size. I’m very careful with my cards. The cards are very large, even by Oracle standards, so be aware if buying for kids. Just think of them as a flash card, and small spread tarot deck. I don’t mind the larger cards, they’re kind of fun at this size, but I do have an issue with the color printing. The colors are quite faded, the cards look like they sat in a window and got slightly sun bleached. If they do another print run of this deck, I’d recommend higher chroma in the colors used to print these cards. Easily adjustable. The faded colors are a bit distracting for me bc they’re not pastel, they look faded. I’m keeping the deck, but the faded look on some of the lighter cards is a con for me. The soft illustration is very gentle and inviting and I love some of the changes to card names. I do think The Devil shouldn’t be called “The Bully” like this deck does; I think “Bad Choices” would have fit better. I like the deck and I’m glad I bought it. ... show more
