So, I've never used a self-tanner, so I can't really make comparisons. However, I asked my long-time skin care aesthetician who recommended this product for my up-coming vaca in Jamaica. She had tried many self-tanners and she liked this one best because apparently it doesn't have as much odor as many do. It does have a slight scent, and I'm very anti-scent everything, but it's not a deal-breaker for me. I followed directions and it works. I was worried about it staining clothes or sheets but so far I do not see any evidence of that. I waited 15 minutes after applying, as instructed, before putting on my old black cotton pjs. I am so excited, this is amazing! I tried the mousse and was not a fan of the color, read another review about the lotion so decided to try that. It said to wait 15 minutes for dry time and that was perfect, the mousse was sticky for hours but the lotion set in so well. I put it on a few hours before bed even, I sleep with white sheets and didn’t have any transfer! The only con is the smell. But that is alllll self tanners, they just have a horrid scent. Small price to pay for a non toxic switch. So glad I found this. I can't speak for the longevity as I just put it on last night, but the color turned out SO good that I was excited to write a review. I have tried countless sunless tanning products and this one by far is my favorite. It doesn't have a funky smell and I've not had issues with it coming off on clothing either. It gives you a nice natural looking color and stays well. The only thing I will note is that you will definitely want to use a brush or glove to rub it in as it takes a minute to get it completely rubbed in. Alright, settle in, folks! I have a hilarious story to share with you about my recent experience with the Beauty by Earth Self Tanner Tanning Lotion. Let me start by saying that I'm usually as white as a ghost, and I've always been too scared to try self-tanners because I don't want to look like an orange Oompa Loompa. But after hearing rave reviews from friends and reading about how natural and organic the Beauty by Earth Self Tanner is, I decided to give it a try. I followed the instructions carefully and applied the lotion evenly all over my body, feeling pretty pleased with myself for finally taking the plunge. Fast forward a few hours, and I was admiring my new golden glow in the mirror, feeling like a bronzed goddess. Feeling confident, I decided to head out for the day and run some errands. As I was walking through the grocery store, I noticed a man giving me some odd looks. At first, I thought he was checking me out, but then he approached me and said, "Excuse me, miss, but I think you have something on your shirt." I looked down to see what he was talking about, only to realize that the self-tanner had rubbed off onto my shirt in a few places, leaving some pretty obvious streaks. Mortified, I quickly made my way to the restroom to assess the damage. To my horror, I discovered that not only had the self-tanner rubbed off onto my shirt, but it had also stained my hands and feet an alarming shade of orange. I looked like I had just spent a week in a tanning bed gone wrong. The rest of my day was spent avoiding eye contact with anyone, trying to keep my orange hands and feet hidden from view. I felt like a walking advertisement for the dangers of self-tanning. Once I got home, I immediately jumped in the shower and scrubbed the self-tanner off as best as I could. But even after all that, I was still left with some residual streaks and orange stains on my skin. Thankfully, I had another trick up my sleeve - lemon juice! I had read that lemon juice can help remove self-tanner stains, so I squeezed some onto a washcloth and started scrubbing away. To my surprise, it actually worked! The lemon juice helped remove most of the stains, leaving me with just a hint of a tan and no more orange hands or feet. Despite my initial mishap, I continued to use the Beauty by Earth Self Tanner over the next few weeks, making sure to apply it carefully and avoid wearing light-colored clothing until it had fully dried. And let me tell you, once I got the hang of it, the results were fantastic. Not only did I have a natural-looking tan, but I also felt confident and radiant in my new skin. I even received compliments from friends and family, who couldn't believe how natural and even my tan looked. One of the things I love most about this self-tanner is that it's made with natural and organic ingredients, which is a huge plus for me. I try to be conscious about the products I use on my skin, and knowing that this one is free of harsh chemicals and synthetic fragrances gives me peace of mind. Another thing I appreciate about the Beauty by Earth Self Tanner is that it's easy to apply and doesn't have that strong, overpowering scent that many self-tanners do. I don’t usually bother to write reviews because it is rare that I am blown away by a product, but this one deserves it. Let’s start with the fact that the ingredients are clean and you’ve already scored points in my book. Then I applied last night after a shower with gentle exfoliation as directed, waited the full drying time and hopped in bed. Woke up this morning to a flawless, natural looking tan. There is no streaking at all. No weird looking areas on my hands, knees, or elbows. Other sunless tanners I’ve used can take multiple applications and still don’t look this tan. One application with this honestly looks better than when I got an airbrushed spray tan. Sure the price is a little more than your average sunless tanner but I’m here to say, you will not be disappointed by this product if you’re looking for a quick, easy summer glow without damaging rays OR harsh chemicals. This is the first self tanner that I actually like. And I started using them 60 years ago, when they were orange and streaky and smelled terrible. Not much had changed for about 50 years, but this goes on smoothly, smells great, and lasts several days!
