Description

The new 11-20mm F2.8 zoom is the world's first ultra wide-angle zoom lens for APS-C mirrorless cameras that features a maximum aperture of F2.8 throughout the zoom range. Despite its large F2.8 aperture, the lens is very small at just 3.4" long and feels perfectly balanced attached to a compact APS-C mirrorless camera body. At the 11mm ultra wide-angle end, the lens exhibits stunning close-range shooting performance, achieving a MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 5.9" and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4. This feature invites wide-angle macro shooting that exploits the creative effects of naturally occurring distortion that only ultra wide-angle lenses can provide. It is protected by Moisture-Resistant Construction and Fluorine Coating for confidence when shooting outdoors. Its 67mm filter size is identical to Tamron's 17-70mm F/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD (Model B070) standard zoom lens for APS-C mirrorless cameras and Tamron’s series of lenses for full-frame mirrorless cameras that fit nicely on APS-C cameras as well. Compatible with many of the functions that Sony builds into its cameras, including Fast Hybrid AF and Eye AF, the lens is packed with highly practical features that support comfortable shooting and enable photographers to enjoy the superb image quality of this ultra wide-angle, large F2.8 aperture lens.

  • Lightest, clear, and zoom!
Size: Lens Only Style: Sony E Mount
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this lens for my Sony FX30 and I couldn’t be happier with the quality of it. The whole rig is super compact and lightweight. I shoot primarily real estate videos and this is what I’ve been looking for! I haven’t used it a ton yet so I’ll update this later when I have more stuff shot on it Edit: It is now 1/23/2024 and I have been shooting 1 video a week and this lens is pretty darn good with a low to medium amount of light. At the base ISO of 2500 in Cine-EI mode on my FX30, it does pretty darn well. Not a whole lot of noise and it's able to focus quickly in those situations. I do find if it is in an all white room it will lose focus occasionally, the last house I filmed was like walking in a hospital. Every, single, room. White. Everything, white. But in the end that is my fault for not having a decent monitor yet haha I have used it to shoot some photos and since I recently upgraded my editing/gaming rig, here are those photos from the Sony FX30 and Tamron 11-20mm F2.8 lens I believe the settings were: 1/10 to 1/30, ISO 125, f2.8, and no color filter. Edited on DaVinci Resolve and RawTherapee I used a LumeCube LED light and this cheapo panel light I bought Edit: 3/4/2024 I have redone my entire color management and filmed a bonfire my friend had It was so flipping hot I had to be over 50 feet away at first, in some shots I splashed water all over my face and arms and sent it 10/10 camera, even in extreme low light situations I believe this was f2.8 locked, ISO 800, and 59.94fps at 1/125 as I'm now shooting in XAVC-HS 10-bit 4:2:0 as Nvidia is capable of natively decoding that codec and it tremendously speeds up the timeline and exporting. Exported in 4K 23.976fps ... show more

  • Absolutely incredible lens
Size: Lens Only Style: Fujifilm X Mount
Like so many recent Tamron designs, the 11-20mm offers a slightly abbreviated focal range in exchange for near perfect image quality throughout the range. There are no directly comparable Fuji lenses. The Tamron is faster than the Fuji XF 10-24mm f/4 but with less range. It matches the Fuji 8-16mm speed but isn't as wide. In use, it is more similar to the Fuji 10-24mm. On paper the Tamron is slightly shorter and lighter. In use they are about the same. The Fuji lens is a constant length while the Tamron extends slightly when zoomed to 11mm. The Tamron is weather sealed and have used it in light rain and snow without issue. Images are crisp with nicely saturated colors at all focal positions and apertures. The Tamron is an excellent value and highly recommended. ... show more

  • Beautifully crisp image!
Size: Lens Only Style: Sony E Mount
I use this lens for my game streaming business and it captures a good majority of my room without giving it that fisheye look, and the image is a lot more crisp than my last lens provided. 10/10

  • Fun Focal Length. Could Be Sharper
Size: Lens Only Style: Fujifilm X Mount
I own the Tamron 17-70 2.8 for Fuji and it’s an insanely sharp lens. So I bought this 11-20mm hoping it would be in the same pedigree. It was average in sharpness. Not as amazing as its 17-70 sibling. That being said. It’s still a fun focal range and it’s super light. Good enough for vacations for sure. ... show more

  • Was not sure about this lens, but I am starting to like it
Size: Lens Only Style: Sony E Mount
UPDATE: I don’t like the fact that you have to rotate the zoom ring the left to zoom in and right to zoom out. My other lenses zoom in to the right and out to the left. I bought this lens to complement my other lenses. The widest lens I have ever had was the kit Sony lens, 16-50 f/3.5-5.6 PZ which is Ok until you try to do group photos. The Tamron 11-20 and Tamron 17-70 f/2.8 are now my two favorite lenses. ... show more
