Bought it for actual books, filled up edge to edge. It does say that the weight limit is 35 lbs so I stacked books underneath it for support because I did notice there's a slight slope to wood. For me, not a big deal, especially if you're not filling it brim to brim with books, nothing a little support on the bottom can't fix. I was very skeptical about ordering this and I ordered three by accident!! I’m not sad about it at all!! They’re absolutely amazing I’m in the middle of re-organizing my office and it had tons of different types of shelving so now all my shelving matches. I just need to finish organizing my crafting office. I mainly bought this for my Starbucks cups because I want to see them I want to look at them they’re my treasures! I absolutely love that they fit perfectly and even with the straws. I was very nervous about that part as finding shelves to fit my cups has been hard. These shelves actually hold a lot they will hold about nine of these Starbucks tumblers in the smaller part with straws other sizes it can hold a lot more! They are beautiful! I have one that has different crates in it and the crates are things like my clay all my pens, my pencils books, paints, one that has just picture frames on top of it. I have another bookshelf and it’s holding up well I have my printers for my business on it they’re amazing! I want more of them for my whole entire house, Please don’t read any negative reviews because there is nothing negative. They’re very sturdy easy to put together and beautiful I mean they actually look really pretty. I can’t wait till I’m finished. I only had one little tiny ding in the corner of one of the shelves, the horizontal shelves, and it was so small I put it in the back and you would never even know it’s there. They actually even give you extra screws for the metal bars and extra screws for the shelving for the horizontal and vertical! If I had more money, I will buy more of them. I have actually sent this to everybody I know because we’re all Starbucks cups collectors, and now we all have them in our homes! My husband can’t know that I need more cups to fill more shelves!!     • Solid construction and easy to assemble
Came well packaged with foam inserts and and each part individually bagged to prevent wear caused by scraping together during transport. All of the parts were individually labeled, which made the assembly process easy and straightforward. The instructions were easy to follow with clear illustrations and logical step by step procedures. It seems to be designed to assemble on the floor with what would be the face of the unit facing down while you connect the shelves and dividers to each other with the provided allen head screws. I chose to assemble as instructed but, in my opinion, I think that with the metal sides and cross-brace that you could easily get away with leaving the vertical shelf dividers out and it would still be sufficiently robust (something that I am considering). Once assembled, the shelf seems to be very strong and stable. The inclusion of metal supports and cross bracing helps to make the structure very solid. Something I really like is the spacing of the shelves because it accommodates larger, coffee table style books. Both the size and the look of the shelves make this unit extremely versatile and ideal not just for books, but for knickknacks models, collections, or just about anything you want to display. The unit as a whole has an attractive, streamlined contemporary look that I really like. You could easily fit it into a wide variety of different decor styles. ... show more

Package came in good condition, all the pieces came pre labeled and properly protected. The manual was very understandable and it includes an allen wrench and some safety equipment to tie the shelf to the wall which is pretty necessary imo. The wood pieces are really heavy and good quality. However, it does not feel like solid wood, but it gives the shelf a really heavy feel. The metal frame is bolted together with a small screw. The shelf is clearly meant to display things rather than hold heavy weight so the parts included should be more than enough to achieve its purpose. The installation wasn't bad, it could have been better if the screws they use is of higher quality. I was using power tool and it easily strips out the screws unless you are real slow and careful, if the screws were any better it could have halved my time. At the end, it tool me about 45 minutes to get the whole thing assembled. The final product looks exactly like described, we really like it. ... show more

This came packed well and undamaged. Assembly took about 40 minutes and it came with an Allen wrench for assembly. Extra parts were included. This compares well to what you would buy in a big box store. It has great side to side bracing but isn’t the deepest so consider using the anti tip wall strap. Assembles super easy and looks better than the pictures. No plastic and sturdy once assembled, this bookcase looks great and will work with wood or metal furniture decor. The wood has a distressed look and the metal has a wrought iron look. Recommend.

Being use to wooden bookshelves, this one with a metal frame certainly has a different, possibly more modern look. If you have assembled similar things involving pipes and screws, putting it together shouldn't be much of a problem. It's sturdy enough to stay in place, especially if you actually have some books on it. ... show more
