  • LOVE the Trainer! Software leaves a bit to desire...
Style: No Cassette
But it works with every other 3rd party software I've tried. (Zwift, Sufferfest, even my Wahoo trainer software) It feels SO real, even the road surface feature. ( I thought at first the trainer broke when i didn't realize that I was riding on a plank bridge on Zwift! Then I realized it was working perfectly!) I just wish that I could get the Tacx Software to work better, since the videos of the courses look amazing. I'll update if I can get it to work. ... show more

  • Save the packing material - you may not be one of the lucky ones to have this work out of the box.
Style: No Cassette
Probably a great trainer, but I can't get the Tacx apps to recognize there's a trainer here. Strava, Wahoo, Rouvy, and every other app/device I can dig up all talk to the trainer, but the Tacx apps don't recognize ther's a trainer next to them in my living room. No spinning arrow, no menus to try - just nothing... Tech support gives little unhelpful comments a day or so after each email I send them. If you're one of the lucky one's to get the app to work - then you'll probably enjoy it. Apparently, I need to have friends come over with their various devices, check to see if/which of their devices can load Tacx apps and talk to my trainer. Then - I'll ascertain if it's the Tacx trainer that doesn't work, or the app on my Android. Then, maybe, I'll buy another phone/tablet or something that might work. Another amusing thing I see - there is no shortage of videos on the web where Taxc guys demonstrate how to open the box and pull the trainer out. They also show how to put a cogset on the thing. The how-to videos they put out allow us to master the obvious (!!!). It's like winning a free supply of those little ketchup packets they give out at McDonalds. If it doesn't work - videos showing how to open a box are quite frustrating... Wahoo has made be lazy; I've become accustomed to unboxing things and using them. If you order this product - make sure to save the box & shipping materials. Then you can review the how-to video in reverse. ... show more

  • Setting up was easy
Style: No Cassette
Package arrived in good condition when estimated. There are several online reviews/videos that advertise the easy/seamless setup from opening box to riding. I followed these videos and without any setbacks was in business very quickly. I ordered the Tacx Neo 2 without any extras. I purchased the same cassette that I have on my bike (Shimano 11 speed 11x30) and installed it without any trouble. Of note, a cassette wrench was helpful and not included. I loaded the bike on and started pedaling. I had already downloaded Zwift on my MacBook. You need to pedal a few times to activate/turn on the Neo, so that MacBook was able to connect via bluetooth. This worked quickly and easily. My Garmin watch also recognized the power/cadence sensor of Tacx. I have only had the unit for a few days and done a few workouts, but so far I am very pleased. ... show more

  • Very Disappointed
I coudnt ride the Tacx Neo 2 even for 1-2 miles without it loosing all resistance. I saw that the red light was blinking indicating overheating. I Couldn't get across this issue. Not sure if this was singular defective product or a common issue.

  • I Wish It Was Flawless Straight Out Of The Box
Style: No Cassette
I had to return this product to Garmin as the 1st ride already had no resistance and overheating issues. I have read that it is a common issue and only fix is to replace it. I am still waiting for the replacement. If the replacement doesn't have any issues, I'll update my review. I formerly had an Elite Direto and was flawless for me for over a year. The switched to the Tacx Neo 2 to have more features such as no calibration needed and to not worry about the belt snapping as the Tacx Neo 2 doesn't have any belts. ... show more

  • cyclists, buy this
Style: No Cassette
I am an amateur triathlete, and in the winter time my training especially my cycling drops and I play catchup in the Spring. This year I invested in TACX, I was hesitant due to the cost. I would recommend this product to anyone. You can use it plugged in or not, can connect to a computer, apple tv etc and use the TACX cycling app, garmin, sufferfest, zwift, trainer road or some others. Totally worth it, will maintain my cycling fitness over the winter. Buy the WAHOO mat for ultimate silence. BUY A SWEAT GUARD! I would also recommend putting a towel underneath and have a fan/window nearby. You will sweat puddles. My one gripe! The hinges are starting to show rust pitting... why TACX WHY?? Charge me extra, make the hinges stainless this pitting is terrible. ... show more

  • The is an expensive paper weight.
I ordered one new, out-of-the-box, Neo 2 Smart trainer and on the first ride, 10 min into the ride the trainer over heated. Went through support, did what they said to correct problem and second ride overhead and shut down 8 minutes in. Returned it received a second, new not refurbished one, and first ride same thing Overheating warning and it shut down 12 min in. The units body as very hot to the touch. ... show more

  • Amazing trainer
Style: No Cassette
Love this trainer!!!!! I have owned the older cycle ops fluid trainer and another fluid trainer in the past and could barely spend 1 hour on it. I was very hesitant to buy this because of the price, but finally took the risk and I am glad I did. I use it mostly with Zwift, (some on Road Grand Tour) and I have had several 2 hour rides and many 1.5 hour rides. I live on the coast and have no hills to train on, so this is great for training my legs for climbs. After a couple of weeks training my climbing I had a ride in the foot hills in NC and had no problem hanging with the front group. The variable terrain feel is great to add variety to the ride. It is worth every penny and I can already tell my power has increased from being able to ride more during the week, at night and when the weather is bad. ... show more
