My daughter’s play room is located in our living room. Her toys would always end up all over the place, and it made the entire room look cluttered and unorganized. It was also difficult for her to keep clean since the storage was lacking. I wanted to find a storage solution where we could hide away those toys but keep them easily accessible for her to bring out and put back when done. I searched between some more expensive units, and ended up choosing this one due to the price, reviews, and size. I bought two units to cover the space I needed it for. I was a little worried that it would feel cheap. However, it is much better than I expected. My husband put together both units in about an hour. For the most part, the installation wasn’t too difficult. We had to adjust the hinges on one unit because the doors were closing uneven, but the instructions were very helpful on how to get them to line up. I had the harder job with clearing out the play area first (I should’ve taken a before picture because it looked like a tornado went through) and organizing it all back together. I am so happy with the final product. Both units fit perfectly in our space. The doors are beautiful and feel heavier than I was expecting. The soft close hinges are a huge plus. I plan to get some trim pieces to make it look more built in. But, the room looks 1,000 times better than it did before. I highly recommend this product. ... show more

    • Hinge assembly difficult, the rest is fine
I ordered 3, knowing about the complaint about the hinges, but thought it would be all right. They ARE a little tricky to align (but doable), and I noticed it was because the sides of the cabinet were consistently warped in the center. This warp also made it difficult to install the shelves in the center of the cabinet (still doable, though). The hinges are the biggest point of contention because the warp causes a small misalignment, but also because there was NO WAY I could have screwed them in without my drill. The included screws would not otherwise go through their holes in the hinges, in which they came seated in. The instructions say to install a (detachable) side of the hinges onto one side of the cabinet, in the first step. When I did this building my first cabinet, it was a bit difficult to get the door (with the other half of the hinges) to snap into place and I needed help holding it (the door seems to be the heaviest side). It took a few tries and is tenuously attached. So far, so good. I DID find a workaround for the bad hinge alignment but it takes a little care. In building the second cabinet I waited until it was time to install the door, to attach the hinges (skipping them in the first step). I laid the cabinet on its side, and did not separate the hinges into two pieces as instructed— I just kept them together, and laid the door down next to the assembled cabinet before screwing in any hinge. The trick, though, is to make sure the door is supported so that it’s weight doesn’t bend the hinges too far. The door should sit at an angle where the hinges pop in without being bent in an odd way. The rest of assembly is easy. The cabinets look fine but were dirty out of the box, and most boards were scuffed. The doors were not, on the fronts (though one had a small scratch) which is why I didn’t return them. They’re nice looking for the price. ... show more

    • IGNORE HINGE ATTACHMENT INSTRUCTIONS!!! LOOK AT MY SUGGESTION

I bought this for a "pantry". It was larger than my old one and the size was perfect. I was a little disappointed that there were some "dings" and repaired (obviously) damage. I could tell this was from the factory not shipping damage. But as looks weren't the most important thing, I could overlook this. MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO TOTALLY IGNORE THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR ATTACHING THE HINGES. I SPENT OVER AN HOUR TRYING TO DO THIS BY MYSELF TO NO AVAIL. I STEPPED BACK, THOUGHT ABOUT IT AND THEN FIGURED THE BEST METHOD. VERY IMPORTANT!! DO NOT TAKE THE HINGES APART. IGNORE THE FIRST STEPS THAT HAVE YOU DOING THIS. SET HINGES ASIDE FOR THE LAST STEP. AFTER ASSEMBLING CABINET, ATTACH THE HINGES, STILL TOTALLY TOGETHER TO THE CABINET WALLS. THEN HOLD THE DOOR IN PLACE AND ATTACH THE HINGES TO THE DOOR. YOU MAY HAVE TO "CLOSE" THE DOOR A BIT TO GET THE HINGES IN THE HOLE FOR THEM. IF YOU HAVE A HELPER, THAT WOULD BE HANDY TO HELP HOLD THE DOOR IN PLACE, BUT I DID IT BY MYSELF WITH LITTLE ISSUE. ... show more

This all comes in 1 box and weighs a ton, which is why I didn’t return this. I couldn’t even pick up the box without another person. Almost every single piece had scratches/large marks on it. One of the legs was broken. A hinge was bent. I was also missing 3 screws for the hinges. I would recommend not nailing the back on until you have the doors aligned because the nails keep the whole cabinet in place, which then prevents you from being able to adjust the cabinet/doors so that they line up right. Learned that the hard way. Luckily, most of the damaged parts are on the inside so I decided to just keep it instead of having to somehow get it all back in the box and return it. The box it came in wasn’t damaged. Without all the marks, damage, and missing screws, this would have been a really nice cabinet. ... show more

this could be a nice piece of furniture but it's missing some of the screws so I was unable to finish putting it together. it also arrived with one of the corners crushed but it's too large and heavy for me to return.
