  • Learning Fun

This fort makes for hours of fun and while also providing math lessons. Before building we took inventory of how many pieces were available against how many were needed which prompted some basic subtraction. While building the fort we discussed shapes, sides, and vertices. All of the pieces are well made and durable. The rods require a bit of a force to make a secure connection. Once built the fort is not very secure, so children will have to be careful when using it. ... show more

  • I feel like I went through 5 stages of grief...
Style: Blue Green
So let me start by saying this is a very cool kit and if you are interested, it might be right for you. But I want to walk you through my experience. Stage One: Denial - Wow! This is SOOO COOL! We are going to make a mega fort! Its going to have parapets and walls and a keep and we are going to fill this entire living room with fortifications! Stage Two: Anger - What the... There is not a lot in here. And we only got 6 short pieces. I can't even make a proper slanted roof. And I gotta say... these bars are a little flimsy feeling. I am not sure my kids are not going to collapse this entire thing by falling on it. Stage 3: Bargaining - Well whatever! We can still make a cool fort! It will just be a lot smaller and less complex but if I reinforce it a lot and make sure to have good structural integrity, I bet the kids are going to be so happy! I mean... they are already playing with it and while that is making it a bit hard to put together... thats okay because this is super cute! Stage 4: Depression - Yeeks. This is actually really pretty small. And the fabric cover is really basic and doesn't really lend itself to any particular shape or design. The kids barely fit in here and they are kind of already knocking it over. I did a really bad job with the design too. I need to remake this and try again but maybe the problem is me? Stage 5: Acceptance -You know what? Its fine! The kids are enjoying it and nothing has been broken yet. So what if its not easy to make a cool fort and so what if they don't fit in it too easily! It glows in the dark and its easy to put up and take down and they provided a bag big enough to get everything into easily! Maybe we won't play with this every day but we will for sure bring it out on occasion and throw some light blankets over it and some pillows into it and everyone will have a good time! This is a perfectly fine item! So there you go. Others may get better results or worse but in the end, this is a perfectly fine gift or thing to bring home but it will not blow your socks off. ... show more

  • Smaller than it looks, but still very fun
Style: Blue Green
This turned out to be a nicer set than I expected. It isn’t large. The poles are not that long and there are only 46 of them, so not enough to build the tent from the main photo on the product listing. Also, an adult probably will not fit inside any of these tents as pictured. All that being said, this set is fun and easy to build with help from a parent or a kid with engineering mindset. The ball connectors do need to be placed in such a way that the right holes are pointing the right direction, but with some trial and error, the kids figured it out. Each ball has a side labeled “top” to help, but they have to be turned a specific way also depending on if you want angled poles to angle up or in. The poles are a bit flimsy and they won’t hold up to constant abuse. If anyone falls in this tent or onto it, it will break the poles for sure. But, if the kids are gentle with it and take their time building (rather than get mad and try to force the connections aggressively, it will hold up to light play and once put together, is fairly sturdy (as long as horseplay is kept away). This is a reasonably good set for the cost (if I had paid for it, I would not feel cheated), but I don’t expect it to be a long lasting toy. Like other items in this price range and quality, it will see a few months to a year of use (if they are gentle with it), but it will eventually break and fall apart from repeated stress of the very light plastic poles. Bonus: most of the short poles are not used in any of the pictured builds, so the kids have attached them to the leftover connector balls and use them as magic wands while in their little starry castle. ... show more

  • Fun and educational
Style: Glow Green
This glow in the dark fort kit has been a hit with my kids! We’ve had hours of fun building different forts together, and it even turned into a good teaching moment. My kids loved counting the pieces and figuring out shapes while building castles and tunnels. The rods glow in the dark which is super exciting. Assembly is pretty straightforward but younger kids might need help getting the rods to click in securely. It’s sturdy enough for gentle play, but it’s not built to handle roughhousing or heavy weight on the structure. Overall, this is a great way to encourage creativity and teamwork. It’s a solid toy for the price and makes a fun gift. Based on my kids enjoyment and the educational value I give this 5 stars. ... show more
