I got this fort building kit as a gift for a friend’s child who is autistic. He loves building toys, and this set looked like a winner. I was pleased to discover the set does glow in the dark as advertised, and I like how the connecting pieces have multiple holes so kids can free-build whatever structure suits their fancy. As other reviewers have noted, the connector poles are hollow and therefore not as sturdy as they could be - so if your child plays roughly this might not be a good choice. The pieces fit together easily. The tarp covering is more plastic-y than fabric-like, and it is a bit thin, but this set is still a lot of fun and works well! ... show more

So let me start by saying this is a very cool kit and if you are interested, it might be right for you. But I want to walk you through my experience. Stage One: Denial - Wow! This is SOOO COOL! We are going to make a mega fort! Its going to have parapets and walls and a keep and we are going to fill this entire living room with fortifications! Stage Two: Anger - What the... There is not a lot in here. And we only got 6 short pieces. I can't even make a proper slanted roof. And I gotta say... these bars are a little flimsy feeling. I am not sure my kids are not going to collapse this entire thing by falling on it. Stage 3: Bargaining - Well whatever! We can still make a cool fort! It will just be a lot smaller and less complex but if I reinforce it a lot and make sure to have good structural integrity, I bet the kids are going to be so happy! I mean... they are already playing with it and while that is making it a bit hard to put together... thats okay because this is super cute! Stage 4: Depression - Yeeks. This is actually really pretty small. And the fabric cover is really basic and doesn't really lend itself to any particular shape or design. The kids barely fit in here and they are kind of already knocking it over. I did a really bad job with the design too. I need to remake this and try again but maybe the problem is me? Stage 5: Acceptance -You know what? Its fine! The kids are enjoying it and nothing has been broken yet. So what if its not easy to make a cool fort and so what if they don't fit in it too easily! It glows in the dark and its easy to put up and take down and they provided a bag big enough to get everything into easily! Maybe we won't play with this every day but we will for sure bring it out on occasion and throw some light blankets over it and some pillows into it and everyone will have a good time! This is a perfectly fine item! So there you go. Others may get better results or worse but in the end, this is a perfectly fine gift or thing to bring home but it will not blow your socks off. ... show more

This building fort is a fantastic value. It comes with a storage bag and is easy to assemble/ unassemble. There are instructions, but you can really use your imagination to design and play with any build. The octogon connectors are heavy duty and quality. The space themed covering is like a heavy plastic tablecloth but has attached tie downs. It gets the job done well without being heavy and does allow some light into the fort. My only concern is over the durability of the connector rods. The rods themselves (there are two sizes) are hollow and somewhat flexible. I'm not sure they would hold up well to more rough play, but for my child they work pretty well. I would say I recommend this with the disclaimer that rough play could result in some bent or broken tubes. ... show more

So my nephew's come to house on occasion and there is nothing for them to play with. So I got this. I thought it would be sturdier then what it actually is. I haven't put it together completely, because I want to wait for them to come over and it is tucked nicely in the box. But I did take out a couple of the rods and they are bendable, so in the pictures provided by the company that is selling it shows a small boy that appears to holding on to the bars and slightly dangling and his feet are hovering the ground and the woman is holding his hands and his hands are holding the rods. These rods are not strong enough to support a child. I got it because it is a fort/tent. If you are thinking is kinda like a jungle jim , fort/ tent, its not. It's a little fort they can make however they want. It says it's indoor and outdoor. I don't think it is right for a 3 year old, I think it is a little more advance, more like a 5 or 6 year old and they still may need help. Not saying it is a bad toy. I think it is great and it will challenge the child and also the parent to play with the child more and have many adventures together! ... show more

My toddler has been showing interest in little spaces for forts, so this fort-building kit caught my eye immediately. What sets it apart is the glow-in-the-dark feature as well as the fact that it all packs up into a small, portable storage bag. The included cloth is okay–we ended up using a large white sheet to create an "igloo", although it's sturdy enough to hold a heavier comforter. It's easy to assemble (once you get the hang of it), and the designer in me has way too much fun making different shapes. This will be a favorite for years to come! ... show more

Yes, it functions. Parts go together, but it doesn't glow which is part of the name of the product. I saved $6.00 dollars by buying this product over a competitor. Instead, I wasted all $33.00 dollars.
