Pros: It is a real set of SWANSON speed squares! Comes with handy instruction booklet. Very sturdy and rigid metal for years of tough service in construction fields and trustworthy accuracy. You can use it as a SAW guide for quick short cuts angled or straight with something like a battery powered skill saw with good accuracy. CONS: Like any super duper handy tool, there is a learning curve to get the most out of it. I strongly recommend watching a few videos and learn what you need most first. I did find some minor casting defects in my smaller square that came in the set but the defects are purely cosmetic so I did not contact the seller. It would have been nice for their QC to catch this one and reject it before it made it out the door. ... show more

Solid aluminum, nice black engraved markings. It look like something out of a carpenter's shop in the 50's. The gradations marks are pretty thick so this isn't the most precise tool if you're looking to measure down to the 16th or 32nd. This is perhaps the most basic tool around and one of the most useful. I'm a tool guy and watched a video of all kinds of stuff you can do with a speed square so I saw this set which appears to be a fair deal. The quality is superb; not some cheap crap. They give you a nice instruction manual so the next time I do something with wood I'm going to figure out how to use.

I decided to build me a wooden work bench, something that was new to me. I'm not a carpenter just a normal person that likes to dabble in home projects and this was going to be probably the biggest one for me so far. I saw many videos showing the use of a speed square and how it was used to keep your work nice and square so I decided to get one. I got this particular one because it came with two squares. A big one and small one. It wasn't hard figuring out how to use it after watching the videos. There are so many different ways to use this square everyone needs to have at least one in their tool box. If it wasn't for using this square I would have had no way in knowing whether my work bench was being built nice and square. Because of this square my bench came out ridiculously nice and perfectly square. For me that's an accomplishment! There's still many uses i haven't tried with this square but knowing that I can turn to this whenever I need is a good feeling. I like how these are made of aluminum. These will last forever if taken care of. These even come with a book to help those of you that are into actual house building, which I am not. I would suggest if you do end up getting a Swanson square might as well get the two pack and save money. I've attached some photos of my work bench build. ... show more
