  • Best EDC light I've owned
Style: Flashlight
Excellent light for EDC. I also bought a kit to move the carry clip to the button end, which allows for a much deeper carry, with almost none of the light peeking above the pocket (highly recommended). Battery life is acceptable... I use mine a LOT, and go through a set of batteries every four or five days. Being able to swap in new batteries at a moments notice is a lot more convenient than needing to charge it for a few hours. The momentary-only switch on the tailcap is perfect for pocket carry, as it never accidentally turns on and stays on in your pocket (Those things can get hot and uncomfortable mighty quick). In short, this light is everything I need and nothing I don't. It's a Surefire, so it's built to take abuse. Is it expensive? Yes. But is it worth it? Absolutely. ... show more

  • Works Perfect For Work
Style: Flashlight
After spending lots of $ on flashlights through the years, I finally purchased the Surefire tactician. I have plenty of work flashilights from Olight, Reylight, Streamlight, Lumintop, Fenix, Maratac brand etc. Always looking for that perfect beam and color. I found that about 5k was the sweet spot for me in my business of home inspections as for me doesn't have the washout effect with super high K colors. Also found that for me, 800 lumes is plenty! Almost as bright at other 1000 lume flashlights.. Gets the job done. Beam pattern is great for my work. Good flood and color, lights up small and large spaces. Has a bluish tint around spill edge. Don't get me wrong I have these other flashlights for backups. The Olight WM2 I thought would be the ticket until I got in a crawlspace and the magnetic tail cap picked up a bunch of iron from the soil making the tail button even more fickle. I purchased the Surefire Z68 tail cap for it that works perfect so I don't have to keep twisting for constant on. I now have the best of both worlds. Very pleased with this light and highly recommend it if your thinking of it. I also run this light on the 16650 rechargeable's. Works like a champ.. Would recommend this product/light to any flashaholic or professional looking for a serious EDC.. Hope this helps. M ... show more

  • Overpriced a bit. But awesome nonetheless.
Style: Flashlight
I purchased the Streamlight 88062 ProTac 2L-X 500 lm Professional Tactical Flashlight, Black - 500 Lumens and the SureFire Tactician High-Output LED Flashlight with Maxvision, Black. Both are very nice. But with the Surefire it just feels solid. Now having said that, I'll elaborate. With cheap flashlights, like those plastic ones from the 80's, you get that kind of spring bounce feel inside. We all jiggled it around because it made a weird vibration. The Streamlight has that at times. The tactician doesn't. The brightness of the tactician is better, more defined. The tactician body is more sleek. The rubber foot feels more secure on the tactician, and doesn't have that push click thing like the streamlight. it's like you weren't even sure you pushed it, until the light blasts forth. A panzer tank for $100+. Now the streamlight feel good in hand. It has a blinding light, not as hardcore as the tactician. It comes with a pouch, tactician does not, just a string loop. Both have pocket clamps. For 40$ the streamlight is a no brainer, but if you can afford more, go with the tactician or both, like i did. I like the tactician for a gun light. I want a for sure light on that. The streamlight would be more my go outside and inspect light or get under the hood light in a pinch. Maybe swing it into a joint on a person. It is that tough and would definitely feel confident in it for something like that. I actually have many other flashlights like a maglite for that more like car stuff or getting into a dirty place. Easier to clean off. Not so worried if something bad happens. Now I will say this about streamlight. I have their Streamlight 69430 TLR-8G on a PDW and it is amazing. Its bombproof. I like that more than the tactician. Good luck. Hope this helped. ... show more

  • it's not the best flashlight for the money but i love it
Style: Flashlight
despite the ratings this is my FAVORITE flashlight to carry ever. its size and brightness are acceptable to me. i will pay for the surefire name because i love the e series. i love the simple ui. twist the head tight for high, loosen for low. tighten tailcap for constant, press for momentary. pocket clip is great. i just wish it would carry head down. my e2d carries head down but that pocket clip breaks easily and has been replaced. fantastic performance with keeppower 16650 rechargeable. no annoying edges. hated the crenelated head (and size) and tailcap on my e2d. i am quirky and this light works for me. it is not a thrower. it has a great flood beam pattern. it's not for everyone and there are better options. however, i own 2 of these. one i upgraded with a malkoff 16650 body so i get a push for momentary or constant on tailcap and head down carry. ... show more

  • Ready and robust, made in the USA
Style: Flashlight
My last flashlight purchased was a 4Sevens Malstrom G5 rated at ~350 lumens. This was many years ago. It still works well today but I find it a little too large for carry. I researched many brands and I always strayed away from Surefire due to the higher costs. However, after watching countless reviews, I decided to spend extra to see if the value is there. I am not disappointed whatsoever. This is really compact for the output and the beam-spread (Maxvision) is wide and consistent. I mainly bought this for general purpose, but also for self-defense while traveling, especially out at night. The clip is very strong and sturdy. The controls are very intuitive and I really like the momentary switch and option to rotate the back section for constant on. The low value output settings is perfect for times when full power is not required. Overall I am very please with this purchase. There are other great alternatives, but obviously this all depends on personal preference and features. I like to buy USA every chance I get, and when the value above average, I will pay the extra price. Hope this helps. ... show more

  • awesome amount of light
Style: Flashlight
On low power it is only just bright enough to walk in the dark. On high power it fills a large field with light. Bright white light. Only rated at 800 lumens on high, but my god what a light. Can't hide from this one.
