I got these guards after our Elite hockey guards ripped after a few uses since we now have to dressed in the parking lot. The third setting fits my son’s size 11 (little kids) Bauer skate. Just to see how small it would go, I fit his first skate on the first setting, and it’s a Bauer Nexus size 9 (toddler). Really easy to install. I think there were instructions but it is very intuitive. 1) Remove the two latches from the rubber stopper thing from the bottom grooves and adjust back 2) Insert blade at front of shoe side as close to the end of the curved section of the guard as possible. 3) Place the top of the rubber stopper high on the blade heel as possible an pull the 2 latch points forward as tight as they'll reach. 4) Push latches into furthest grooves they can comfortably stretch to. Guard feels high quality. I don't have any concerns of breaking. Even fit my 6 year old's hockey skates. There's a lot of excess material in the back but she'll grow into them. You could cut off the slack if you were concerned about it or to make walking easier. ... show more

My son plays hockey, and with COVID we are not allowed much time to get dressed and undressed before and after practice/games. With these guards, he can get ready at home, and then just walk into the rink. After the practice/game, the guards go on and he can just walk out to the car. I see some players have added roller skate wheels to theirs, and we may do this in the spring. My son even walks in these to the neighbor's house, no problems at all. These work great. Bought many of them now. I highly recommend and will keep buying them. Don’t be cheap though, make sure you cut them to size. Having them oversized so they “last through many different sizes of skates for your kids” just makes it a hassle on your bag, dangerous to walk around in, and looks ridiculous. You can get away with cutting them so that the next half size and whole size still fit but any more than that doesn’t make sense. They do an amazing job of protecting the blade and walking on them (even at 300lbs) is sturdy and works great. ... show more

    • These are the best covers for walking with skates on.

For this class of product these are the best. They really stay on the skates well. My son is using them on his size 3 Bauer hockey skates. He had a cheaper version previously and lost one of them walking around. The weight of the skater is on the blade holder not the blade. The blade does not touch the rubber. You can see the blade suspended via view/drain holes on the side of the guard. I have not used them when the skates are wet. I use terry cloth covers for the trip home and put the rubber holders when packing equipment before heading to the arena. The other that I had of this style would cause the blades to rust as they trap water. Not sure if that would happen with these. Maybe if you dried the skates thoroughly before putting them on. ... show more

I am sorry to say this but this is not a quality product. I had them for about 2 months and they seemed ok but when I went to take my skates out if my bag tonight, I discovered that they were BOTH broken. The little strap that locks into the teeth is made from a soft rubber and needless to say, after a few months of being locked on the blades, the rubber gave up on me. I am out of the return or replace period so I am out of luck. Would never buy this product again. First negative review I've ever written for anything on Amazon. ... show more

Bought them for kid skates but they were too wide in front as they are made for adult. Used them on a men’s size 10 or 11 hockey skate and they were perfect! Nice, thick guards that should last a while

These were JUST long enough to fit my adult men's size 10. They fit great and protect the blades VERY well. It takes about 2 weeks for the rubber to soften enough to slide on easily but after that it's really easy. Much better than cloth guards. I do recommend wiping the blade with a dry cloth before putting the guards on to prevent rusting. ... show more
