  • Was very skeptical, but surprisingly worked well
Model: Home / Office
BACKGROUND INFO My home is a dead spot for cell phone signal for AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. My company no longer provides a Verizon phone when they switched to AT&T, and T-Mobile is my personal cell. AT&T usually works SLIGHTLY better than my T-Mobile, and after I complained to the latter about poor cell coverage, they sent an engineer out to survey and basically said, "We confirmed that you have poor service. We will make adjustments to try and strengthen your area." Nothing changed. I still had 0 or 1 bar. Next, I ordered a free cell booster from T-Mobile. Two options were offered: one that would use my Internet service and another that would boost any available cell signal. The first option would allow any T-Mobile phone nearby to connect to my cell booster and use my internet connection. No thanks! COX has a monthly quota on my line AND I did not want to be liable for any illegal traffic that might occur on my internet connection. So, I opted with the second choice. Installed the home cell booster according to T-Mobile's instructions with one antenna by the window and the booster somewhere in the house. That worked for a few months to give us enough signal to at least get texts, but that did not work reliably. Forget about internet -- it was faster to just connect to our WiFi. It's been 4 years since I installed that booster and our cell signal still is 0 or 1 bar. SUPERBARS I previously purchased a Superbars car cell booster and found it to NOT work. Turned out, there were some tricks I could try when technical support reached out. I followed those additional steps, and sure enough, I got about 20-50 dB of additional signal strength while traveling. Technical support was excellent, and when I asked them about my home cell phone issues, they recommended that I would try this particular 6,000 sq ft home booster. My home is not that big, but I wanted to ensure it would cover the entire home, backyard, front yard, and a bit of the neighborhood so I could still get signal while playing outside with my kids. One should note that Superbars is a sister brand of HiBoost, a highly rated product often compared to the WeBoost company with similar results at a lower price. The Home cell booster supposedly will amplify T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint, though not all bands. The maximum gain that could be achieved by this product is 65 dB (compare that to the 50 dB the WeBoost/HiBoost/Superbars car boosters). The higher the dB gain, the stronger the signal could be amplified. INSTALLATION The instruction manual was straight-forward, but I reached out to technical support again to see if they had any extra tips I could follow so I would not get frustrated. Installing the product in the hot attic during the summer days was not something I was looking forward to. I will share some of those tips here. 1. Downloaded three apps: Network Cell Info, CellMapper, and OpenSignal. I used those to measure and try to locate the nearest T-Mobile cell tower. I found two nearby. 2. Took the directional antenna into the attic and pointed it towards both towers to see which would provide the strongest signal by reading the LCD on the booster unit. Had to play a bit as the angle and directional, even just a miniscule amount, made a huge difference at times. Our HOA does not allow antennas to be mounted onto the roof, and so I had to choose between either the attic or the backyard. 3. Once I found the best position for the antenna's direction, I ran the cable to the booster unit with the LCD screen. If the antenna was actually outside, you could run connect it to the window cable and have it run underneath the window screen to get inside, but I found it easier to have the coax cable run through the attic opening instead. 4. From the booster unit, I ran two more coax cables through the attic and down to the center and far corner of the house and attached the 2 internal antennas. 5. Performed some speed tests and found that the T-Mobile cell phones in our homes FINALLY got better signals! Where we previously had 0 or 1 bar with speed tests that USUALLY failed, we now had about 8-12 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up. Not the fastest speeds, but good enough! Texts finally came in quickly too. My work's AT&T speeds improved even more significantly. The stronger the existing signal you get, the stronger of a boost this product can provide. That is key here: if you have 0 or really poor cell service to begin with, you cannot boost non-existent or very poor signals with this product. It's like trying to build a lake with just drops of water. The more water you have flowing to you, the bigger of a lake you can build and swim in. If you have no water (cell signal) available at all, you just cannot build a lake with no water. One should note that voice, text, and data do NOT use the same bands/cell frequencies. So, just because the phone may show 5G or full bars, that does not mean that you would have full data service. You cannot trust the "signal bars" shown on the phone. Use the 2 apps instead that I had previously mentioned: Network Cell Info and/or CellMapper. OpenSignal could be useful too. PROS - Boosted AT&T and T-Mobile signals very well - Directional antenna can pinpoint exactly at where the strongest source signal comes from. The stronger the source signal, the more the Superbars can boost and provide better cell signal at home - Worked even with the outdoor, directional antenna being inside the attic. Note: the higher the antenna can be placed (with the least amount of obstacles between it and the cell tower), the better the signal can be - Simple installation - Outdoor and indoor antennas look professional enough to somewhat blend into the home decor - Performed better than the booster provided by T-Mobile CONS - Pricey - Neighbors can (unknowingly) be connecting to your cell booster too, saturating your line a bit during peak times. There's no way I found to whitelist what phones can connect to the booster so I could keep neighbors out. - Would be nice to have an app from Superbars/HiBoost that could help guide you where to point the antenna to for the best signal - Not a fan of the Black/Gray color scheme of the booster unit. Would have preferred it to be all-white to better fit with the home interior color scheme - Your HOA may limit where you can place the antenna at CONCLUSION It works! What can I say? I'm happy to have decent (not the best, but good enough) cell phone signal in the home, especially in case of emergencies when we have to make a phone call. I wish that T-Mobile addressed our neighborhood like what they had promised 9 years ago, but when they do, I will adjust the Superbars antenna to point to the better cell tower again for a hopefully even stronger boost to the incoming signals. ... show more

  • Works great. Even over long distances.
Model: Home / Office
I purchased this for a 15,000 Sqft warehouse that has 3 bays. I needed improved service in two of the outside bays. The outside antenna I mounted on a long pole about 12’ up in the air on top of the building and pointed towards the nearest tower. Ran the cable inside and about 50’ over to where I mounted the booster and first indoor antenna. After testing, the outdoor antenna was receiving perfect signal on 3 of the bands and just shy of perfect on the 4th band. The indoor antenna boosted my service from 1 bar to 4 up to around 100’ away from the antenna there the service dropped to 3 bars for another 25’ before fading out. I didn’t expect it to work over those distances. Keep in mind, this is an open warehouse. Inside of some office area about 25’ from the antenna, though a wall I received an increase of 1-2 bars. I then needed to run a 100’ cable (bought separately) to the other bay where I mounted the 2nd indoor antenna. This one performed equally as well. I still have some dead spots in an office that I am planning on solving with a 3rd antenna. The seller of this booster is helping out with this so customer service has been great. Overall I would recommend this product. I never had over a bar of service inside and this seems to have solved my issues. Couple things to note. 1. I was not looking for great service, my goal was to keep from dropping calls constantly. That it solved. As for data speeds, it works better the closer you are to the indoor antenna. Wall permeation of the signal is not great so pick your indoor antenna location with that in mind. 2. I managed to get great reception from the outdoor antenna. This goes a long way in getting a strong signal inside. Also, installation was easy and straightforward. Biggest pain for me was running 100’ cable across our ceiling. ... show more

  • Tech Support was awesome .
Model: Home / Office
I purchased this booster to remedy the cell reception at our home. When calling people our conversation is broken up and choppy we have 1 bar when making calls. The exterior antenna is on the second story roof. I installed the indoor antenna on the first floor in the dining room. The signal has not increased. The quality of my phone calls is poor. Tech Support (Noah) help me trouble shoot the Issue. We found out my Cell provider Verizon is not compatible with this booster at our location. Verizon is using a frequency band of 66 unfortunately this band is not supported on this booster. I selected this booster for the reviews and the coverage. Although this booster specificities it will work with many different cell providers and 4G, 5G, LTE... it can only operate on specific bands as listed on the listing. Check on your phone to see what band you are using before you select a booster. Tech Support (Noah) showed me how to find the band info my cell provider is using. First open the app to make a call and dail this number with all of the symbols *3001#12345#* and hit send/call/ the green button. It will take you to a hidden menu showing you the Band Info of your phone and cell provider. See the added photos. Some reviews and chat rooms are indicating that band 4 and band 66 will work together. This was not the case for me. I give 5 stars for tech support, Noah helped me via email in the evenings after work and early in the mornings to trouble shoot my problem. He sent a video showing me how to find the hidden menu and was extremely patient when I could not find the band info he was looking for. Unfortunately this booster did not work for me do to compatibility, Noah sent me a refund for the unit. FYI, I am a general contractor with over 25years of construction Experience, it was simple enough to hook up and connect the system. ... show more
