Description

"Stop, Wait, Go!", the U.S. edition, uses beautifully illustrated pictures with common road signs and symbols to tell an engaging story that entertains as it teaches. Award-winning artist, designer, and children's author, Nancy King, arouses your child's curiosity about everyday road signs seen in traveling. Featured are road signs with and without words and of various shapes and colors, that familiarize the child with commonly seen signs. The book evokes the classic family road trip to a happy destination as the family locates familiar signs in typical settings. Each family member has a distinct personality, and animals enrich the passing landscape for added interest. Bright, full-color, 17" x 8 1/2" spreads provide maximum visual appeal. The simple story line includes an adventure with a satisfying ending for everyone. Bonus feature: The back pages include a memory game and a dictionary of additional common signs and symbols, providing delightful and informative reading for all! Primarily for kids 4 thru 9 years. NOTE: There is now a BRITISH EDITION available in print and e-Book format for those who wish to follow the story with British signage. Please see on Amazon "STOP, WAIT, GO! The British Edition". • Toddler Approved
My toddler is super in to any and all signs these days so I purchased this book. He is obsessed and wants to read it every night. He does well with the little test at the end and it has introduced new discussions while driving also.

  • Very good book for my preschool students.
Just what I needed for my preschool children ages 3-5. We didn’t have enough books in our sign study in the teaching strategies and this book was perfectly what I needed.

  • Great start to knowing about signs.
This book has nice visuals to show signs in the community and dictionary of symbols. Bought this for 20 year old autistic daughter. Would also be great for young children.

  • Compliments and Kudos
As a pre-school and first grade teacher for many years, I would have loved to have had this book to help my students understand all the signs they see as they travel about their communities and broader regions. These signs - in clear and standard American English - is such a plus to any childs' library. I give it 6 stars!! :) ... show more

  • Informative and fun little book!
This is a terrific little book to teach young people everyday signs they may encounter. It takes us from a stop sign to a rest room sign to a picnic area sign, and so on. My grandchildren loved knowing what a sign meant, especially the little ones who are currently unable to read. The illustrations were colorful and fun, and the story line helped to keep their interest. Highly recommend this book! ... show more

  • Informative and entertaining!
Amazing to have a book both informative and entertaining. Not only kept my nephew's interest but he could not put it down. Also love the quiz at the end, great for reinforcing signs they have just learned.

  • My kids love it
My three year old and five year old adore the book, spend minutes on each page. Would love to see more versions written/illustrated.

  • Educational and Entertainment Experience
What a great picture book for kids who are learning to read! And not just to read words, but to learn to associate symbols with meanings. And it's true, it does work really well as a game on long drives and road trips. Every page is so packed with beautiful and entertaining images that any child will find something new every time he sees it. The bright colors and simple designs grab the eyes and don't let go. The book is a total educational and entertainment experience. Only complaint: I want more. ... show more
