The frame is made of solid wood which looks carved by hand. I purchased the plain wood model then painted it with a light white wash. As others have mentioned, color is not exactly as described in the pictures by the seller. It does have more gray undertones, but is still beautiful! Sturdy, but not overly heavy. Perfect for the half bath I redecorated. A trick to hanging it level, take a wide piece of tape along the edge of the top. Then mark where the nails/screws will catch. Then take the tape to the wall where you want to hang the mirror. You can now us the tape as a guide, and adjust the level. Then screw/nail where you marked. Remove the tape and hang the mirror! Tada, level and exactly where you wanted it. ... show more

The ever-present constant of needing to read the whole listing...I didn't realize the design was made with a layering effect. These are well constructed from MDF so they're definitely solid. And they were packaged well upon arrival. Though when I took it out I was surprised and disappointed. This is perfect if you're going for a rustic look- which I am not. I was hoping it was flat, but it was very textured. I just imagined dust building up in the millions of crevices. Additionally, the wood appeared to have a greenish tint- again would have been nice if you like the rustic look. ... show more
