My previous kitchen mats (a different brand) were targeted by my cats who saw them as a nice place to fine-tune their claws. They became pock-market with visible divots and they (the mats, not the cats!) had to be trashed. This brand (so far) has remained undamaged and it may be that the cats do not consider them attractive scratch pads. It may be too soon to declare them totally cat-proof, but so far (fingers crossed) the cats have shown no interest in tearing into them. I wanted to take a moment to share my thoughts on these mats. While I appreciated their comfort and appearance initially, I did notice some issues with durability, as they started to rip within the first month of use. Given that there hasn't been much foot traffic—just me and my small puppy—I was surprised by how quickly they showed wear. On a positive note, I love how lightweight they are, which makes cleaning and moving them around effortless. Additionally, they provide a comfortable surface for standing while prepping food and cooking. these mats are the most comfortable things i have ever owned. as a relatively new adult, i didn't realize how much it hurt to stand in front of the sink while doing dishes and only have the bare floor beneath you. these are almost a memory foam type material and are so comfortable whether you're making dinner, doing dishes or just standing around in the kitchen. ours have held up INCREDIBLY well and if they ever start to show wear and tear, i will definitely buy the same brand again. ... show more
