Buying a musical instrument online is really frustrating. When you can't hear or feel it then it's hard to tell if it's going to be good or not so you pay your money and take your chances. I bought two tongue drums. The same price. Both had good reviews. But they were miles apart in quality. I thought the first one I got sounded good but there were a couple of kind of dead sounding notes and one note sounded out of tune. It was big and heavy and hard to handle. Then this one came...what a difference!! The tone on this tongue drum is awesome and no dead notes or out of tune notes. It's thinner and easier to handle and play and the rope around the side was already on and it looks great.( compared to the other drum which had an ill fitting yarn that wouldn't stay in place). Thank goodness for the amazon return policy! If you are looking for a 15 note quality drum in this price range, I don't think you could do any better than this one. The media could not be loaded. This drum is excellent quality. I am new to tongue and barrel drums, but not to music since I’ve played instruments for most of my life. I don’t usually care for light tinkling sounds like chimes and the similar instruments used in most meditative practices. Instead, I prefer more deep, melodic sounds. However, I was intrigued by the tongue drum and thought it might be an easy instrument I could enjoy while relaxing. For that reason, I did a tiny bit of research to see which ones might have the tones for my music preference. This one does not disappoint! The sound is beautiful. I like that it isn’t difficult to hit the drum in the correct spot, even on the smaller areas. I was concerned that it might be difficult to get a good sound without exact precision. I find that the mallets work very well for what I am trying to achieve. This video is after only a few practice runs. I’m still sloppy, but it didn’t take long to memorize and tap out my first melody. ... show more

Very nice sound with mallets. The finger mallets take some practice, but sound nice as well. The clear part over the stickers comes off, and looks very nice.

The media could not be loaded. The drum is easy to play and the instructions manual really helps in playing different songs/poems. I chose green color and it looks lovely. Such a great instrument to gift someone as well. Can be used for fun evenings with friends or family or for meditation.

This is my first time experimenting with a tongue drum, and it's become an addiction! The sound is phenomenal for such a small, inexpensive instrument. Also, if you remove the rubber plug on the bottom, it sounds even better. Definitely not disappointed with this experience. The instruction book comes with not only 40 songs to learn, but also tells which musical note corresponds with each number on the drum. Great for a beginner! ... show more
