  • Great Xylophone for the Price
This xylophone looked very similar to some others that were much higher priced, so I decided to try it. It arrived in a double box and everything was in good order. The wooden bars appear to be Padauk wood, which is the desired type for an instrument. The bars are suspended by string s instead of being screwed down, so they can vibrate much better than cheaper models. It is 2-1/2 octaves from F4 to C7. It seems reasonably in tune but slightly sharp overall. It probably isn't professional quality sound, but is perfect for practicing and learning to play a mallet instrument. Included were 3 sets of mallets of different hardness for different tones. Also included was a metal folding stand that was quite strong and stable, but held the xylophone at about 32 inches high, which is too low for an adult. I am completely satisfied with this instrument and think it is very good quality for the price. ... show more

  • Great instrument for home use.
This is a great instrument to learn mallet technique on. I’d recommend it for students who practice mallet instruments and want to avoid the shrill traditional glockenspiel. While the instrument is really nice, the mallets that it come with are absolute hot garbage. I literally threw away the plastic ones, and the wooden handle ones gave to a student who recently broke their glockenspiel mallets. DO NOT use them on this instrument, they will dent your bars if you play at a medium-loud volume. Use a medium yard mallet for best use imo. ... show more

  • Happy with keys
The overall tone is very nice but I recommend buying a different set of mallets, as the one that comes with the keyboard are cheap and came apart within minutes. The stand also leaves much to be desired. It does not sturdily hold the keyboard at a good height unless you’re about three feet tall. That being said, I’m still happy with the purchase for the price. Exactly what I needed for my son to practice. ... show more

  • Great for my percussionist
My son has a xylophone which cost over $1500. My daughter is younger and in middle school but wanted one as well. We didn't want to invest much, and we were pleased with this one. My high schooler put it together easily, and while this one is smaller than his with less octaves, it provides some variety from playing the bells and still compact enough to keep in her bedroom. ... show more

  • Terribly out of tune & horrendous quality! Beware! Atrocious item! go buy a Yamaha TX-6 on eBay!
This thing is so poorly made that all of the bars are sanded on random sides on the bottom so that when you play it, the mallet doesn't bounce up off the bar and rebound normally like it would on a real xylophone. Instead, the mallet bounces off in a random direction, making the instrument impossible to play even for an experienced mallet player! But that's not all! It's horribly out of tune! The bars are as much as a half-step difference the interval that they're supposed to be. So some bars that should only be a half step apart are instead a whole step apart. I ended up finding a $200 Yamaha "table xylophone" on eBay which shipped from Japan so I'm returning this Amazon junk xylophone. The Yamaha xylophone is a Yamaha TX-6 and it's excellent quality. There are a bunch of these on eBay currently for around $200 so don't miss out by making the mistake of ordering this joke xylophone! I wouldn't wish playing this instrument in my worst enemy. I bet practicing on this would make you worse at mallet instruments, in fact I'm sure of it! Buyer beware! ... show more

  • Great xylophone
Xylophone is sturdy, well made, beautiful rose wood, sounds great, stand is sturdy. Perfect for home use, nice size. It’s a great instrument, not a toy. Mallets are hard plastic. To get softer sound, I bought mallets to tone it down for home use. Love it!

  • Great for the price!
Sounds great and great for practice. Mallets are very cheap so I'd invest in better quality ones. Also a helpful tip if you are considering buying: the cords that link the keys have to be pulled tightly to get rid of the dull/dampened or offpitch notes. YouTube should have a video about how to tighten the cords. This is typical upkeep of these types of pitched percussion instruments. ... show more
