  • One of the best TREK Spin-Offs ..!!!!
Hardcore Trekker here… Always learly about all these TREK spinoffs…. Discovery was a let down, Picard was…. ‘prrretty goood’, but STRANGE NEW WORLDS … Absolutely nailed it..!!!! The days of the Enterprise before Kirk… Story lines are singular episodes, (um, kinda..) But they are filling with excitement, great Special FX, the Enterprise looks awesome, the actors are perfect picks for a great ‘crew chemistry’…. Anson Mount is great as Captain Pike and Ethan Peck’s interpretation of Spock is perfect..!!!! The ‘only’ poo-poo… (Spoiler ALERT..) The Gorn seem to show up a little too much in season one… Isn’t there any Klingons, or Romulans to kick up some dust with..?? Lolol..!!!! If your a TREK TOS Fan… You’ll love this series..!!! ... show more

  • Not a Treky but…
Not a Treky but I really enjoy this show! I know Strange New Worlds did receive some criticism but honestly this is the only StarTrek show I’ve ever really had fun watching and really helped me understand the federation in a more positive light that I never understood before. They did a fantastic job on the writing, set, cast, cinematography and the costumes. It’s a very visually appealing show and it had a really nice modern feel to it. I like that it didn’t have an “overly pandering element” to the story and all characters really held their own and treated each other with respect. I really appreciated that. The story does a good job of focusing on several members of the crew and their story arcs. Ended up really liking all the members of the crew. Captain Pike was a great leader character. He seemed liked he really cared for each one of his crew members where other captains kind of treated some of them as disposable. Also liked his dad joke vibe with his epic Jonny Bravo hair cut that brought it all together. The other low key elements I really liked about the first couple seasons was how they turned the usually logical and stuffy Spock into the desired unofficial sex symbol of the show was brilliant! They touched on Spock’s human side better than any of the other shows have prior to this with style. It’s about time we stop making sexy characters just for the sake of having sexy characters! Smart and logical needed a stronger emphasis as being sexy in the world we live in today. All around great show to watch when you’d like to chill out after a day of work! This is a ridiculous review that I wrote knowing that hardly anyone would read this for a hard copy of a show but this is what I did today instead of doom scrolling. So live long and prosper! ... show more

  • It's good to see good Star Trek again
It's good to see good Star Trek again. This show, though I'm on S1 D4, This series so far makes me think there are still competent Star Trek writers out there. I'll be ordering S2 soon.

  • May be the best first season of any Star Trek series.
Moving from strength to strength after the highly satisfying (yes I know it too has its critics) second season of Discovery, SNW more than makes a place for it as both one of the better shepherded and thoughtfully produced entries. The attempts to balance the traditional feel and the demands of modern audiences along with the heightened "cinematic" approach mandated by Discovery largely all pay off and support the show. Almost every change is welcome and every easter egg is well-earned. the balance between episodic and arc-based episodes is more confident, even as it tries to balance the two in ways that both Disco and Picard struggled with. Additionally, this may be the most openly FUN Trek has allowed itself to be in many years, while still remaining relevant, an achievement that no other full season back to TOS may be able to claim. DS9 still remains "My Trek" but SNW, at least in THIS season, makes a solid claim for second. ... show more

  • Best Trek in years
This show is creative and fun, but preserves the spirit of the original series. The characters are memorable and likeable. Great writing all around.
