  • I went through 3 other walkers till I found safety with this one
Color: Black Walnut Size: Standard
Over the last few weeks I've thrown out three walkers -- all of which had wheels. One was left over from when I had a broken ankle years ago, and another two because they were brand new but an accident waiting to happen. I didn't even return the new ones because I didn't want anyone else to take the risk I did. As for the old one, the hospital issued it but due to my recent near disasters I tossed it in the trash tote, too, because it posed the same danger the others did. I spent hours looking at walkers on Amazon, all of them with wheels. I had it in my brain that wheels were necessary. But then this one popped up in my search results and, unlike the other one-star reviews I'd read, this one had no one-star reviews (which is still true at the date I'm writing this). Just four and five stars. I see why. First, wheels can lead to injuries that can't happen with this walker, and second the wheels are no easier to use than this is. The quality of this walker is excellent and there's no assembly required other than attaching the handles which is a breeze. It's a little heavier than I would have wished. That's what I thought when I brought the box inside, but once I unfolded it and actually used it I saw that the weight is no problem. My gait while using it is also no problem. I move along safely at a speed that's totally okay. Locking and unlocking (folding) the walker is very easy but secure when you lock and unlock it. I like how well it stands on its own four feet when in the locked position. It sits right beside my back door waiting for me to take it for a walk, using hardly any space. When open and used in the house, it moves smoothly through narrow doorways and tight spaces as my photos show. If this had been the first walker I ever bought, I wouldn't have been excited to own it (as I am now) because I would have thought, "Well, sure, this is what walkers should be like -- a sturdy, reliable aide that you, not wheels, control." It wasn't till after kissing a lot of frogs that I found this prince. You may value this walker the same as I do, or maybe you won't, but if you don't and continue to believe you need wheels for smooth walking, I urge you to read the one-star reviews on whatever walker you are considering. Also consider the terrain where you expect to use a walker. If there's uneven sidewalks, gravel, holes in the pavement, or even just a twig (which is what almost threw me to the ground), be aware that with some walkers (with wheels) they can come to an abrupt stop while you're still walking. That's when a walker can tip forward taking you with it. Other problems I found with wheels: they can pull you to one side so that you have to fight with it to keep it straight, or a wheel can just stop turning (also happened to me), tilting the walker to the side and taking you with it. Then there's the vibration when on less than smooth terrain. It's tiring to put up with that. It's akin to operating a jackhammer. Well, okay, that's an exaggeration, but you get the idea. I found this to be true even on asphalt that is otherwise smooth appearing. UPDATE: Ignore what I said above about the weight being no problem. That was true in the house and in an outside area that's near my house -- but today I walked to the bank which was much farther from my house. Never again! With every two or three steps I was lifting the 7 pounds and it was just too much for me. In physical therapy they have me working with one pound weights and that's plenty as I try to build my strength. I am very weak. Well, that constant lifting really got to me today. I was so weak and having so much trouble, two employees at the bank followed me outside and said they would help me into my car, but I told them I don't have a car. So then one of the employees said she was going to walk me home and hold onto my arm. I told her I lived too far away from her leave her work. I said I was going to a grocery store next to the bank to get a bottle of water and to sit on a bench they have outside the store. But when I made my way to the store's parking lot -- with a great deal of difficulty and totally worn out -- two people in different parts of the parking lot called out to me. One asked if I was okay (I said no) and the other one said he'd drive me home, which he did. I truly don't think I could have made it back to my house. I couldn't even leave the walker at the store and walk home without it because I am much too shaky and unsteady. The man told me if I had refused the offer of the ride, he would have called 911. Obviously, I looked like a feeble old lady. For so many people to be alarmed about my condition and making such kind offers, I know I will never take the walker far from home again. But for use in my house, it's a definite winner. ... show more

  • Best walker for small spaces. Great quality.
Color: Black Walnut Size: Standard
This walker is great for small spaces. I have a hallway that is only 18" wide. This walker can be used partially closed and is still very sturdy. I was able to sure it in the hallway only 18" wide and in my tiny restroom. It can also be close to about 8"X8" and used at that for balance in a small area until you get to a section where you expand it again. Just don't lock it closed and you can collapse and expand it jn just a few seconds. I s would have had to stay in my living room if not for this walker. This walker is extremely sturdy fully expanded or slightly collapsed. Made of great quality. This walker is with worth the price and is a must have for small places. It's nice for storing too because it will close up to 5"x5" ... show more

  • Stable
Color: Black Walnut Size: Standard
This walker is exactly what I needed to be able to walk again! Wide and tall enough to stand up straight and walk, no hunching over, just move forward steps. Light and easy to go along. I am happy after 9 years in a wheelchair

  • I wanted to love it!
Color: Cobalt Blue Size: Short
This seemed like it would be the ideal walker, compact, available in colors, and lightweight. It's very sturdy and easy to use. But those handgrips! Because they're so angular, they caught on everything, from sleeves to tablecloths. If the designer could only figure out a way to maintain the "foldability" of this walker while using a handgrip modeled on the standard walker's, it would be a great upgrade. I've gone back to my old walker so I don't drag something else with me. ... show more

I am getting comments on this. It gives stability yet is light enough to lift. So glad I got one.

  • WOW! Completely exceeded my expectations!
Color: Black Walnut Size: Standard
I ordered this item because of it's small size and light weight. I was totally shocked at the compact size of it when folded and the stability and solid feel of it when opened. I wanted a walker that was portable for everyday use and to make it easier if I brought it with me when traveling. I opened the box and within 60 seconds was using it. It is one of the sturdiest walkers I have ever used and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone, ... show more
