  • Ultimate camping comfort
Color: Green
The media could not be loaded. I ordered this camping mattress for car camping trips or to take along to a river or lake and relax in comfort. This mattress doesn't disappoint. It's very much like my name brand thinner camping mattress except so much bigger and more comfortable. As an occasional stomach sleeper, I'm always dealing with cold elbows from my arms hanging off the side of the mattress. With this one my arms stay fully on the mattress with room to spare. Even if one did hang off, there's 4" to the ground so it would be much less likely to touch the cold ground in the middle of the night. There's also plenty of room to stretch my legs out to the side in various positions. At 6'1" my arms and legs are pretty long so if I fit well most taller people probably would too. The inflation/deflation valve operates in 2 positions which are accessed by simply flipping the valve. When I opened the valve it inflated about 1/3 of the way by itself. I have no air pump so I used the bag to inflate it. The included carry bag has a roll-top like a dry bag that captures air inside it. It also has an outlet valve which you press into the mattress while squeezing the bag of air. I found all of this to be very awkward and difficult. The bag can only get about 1/2 full of air. You have to compress this large half-full bag of air while holding the outlet firmly against the air mattress while making sure the air mattress doesn't move and break the seal between it and the air bag. I managed to go from about 1/3 full to 2/3 full with the air bag but got frustrated and didn't finish it because it gets harder to do as the mattress inflates. I really love the mattress itself and air pumps are not very expensive so I plan to get a pump and avoid dealing with the bag again. I do think it's important to be aware of what a hassle it can be to inflate without a pump though. If you don't have one, order one with the air mattress for a great first experience with it. ... show more

  • Pleasantly Surprised by This Sleeping Pad
Color: Green
I took a chance on this sleeping pad for its large dimensions and am glad I did. I was a little hesitant to because there is a max rating of 220lbs on the listing. That is exactly what I weigh and pushing things to their max is never good. However, this feels very similar in support to another 3-inch sleeping pad I own. I'm guessing my added weight may decrease the R-value a little but I'm totally okay with that (This is rated as R-10). I tested this both on the ground as well as on a cot. Surprisingly, both scenarios handled quite well. I didn't feel the ground at all once I was positioned and laying down (side or back). It's only when I'm crawling or walking on it that I can (remember I'm at the max limit). Sitting upright is perfectly fine. And even though its about 4 inches too wide and too long for the cot, I didn't notice once I was on it. It actually felt better than the one I own sized for it haha. So, if you're on the fence because of the weight capacity... you should be fine. As mentioned earlier it feels like a 3-inch once on it at the max rating (and sits at 4-inch before getting on it). My 3-inch pad doesn't have a weight capacity stated but has an R-value of 8.5. I know that's not a scientific comparison but what I have to go off of as a guesstimate. All in all, super happy I took a chance on this! ... show more

  • A super comfortable sleep mat. Inflates itself very well. But large...
Color: Green
Large could be a positive thing. Or a negative thing. But it's the only draw back I see to this mat. I mostly do minimalist camping and adventure filming. I normally have to hike to location. But if someone had conveyence, this could be a great mat for those individuals. Hikers and backpackers may find this a bit bulky. I can not speak to the longevity of the sleep mat so far. But I will edit review once I have had occasion to put it to use a bit more. ... show more

  • Must have if car camping
Color: Blue
I'm really liking the Sportneer brand. They seem to be making strides in the affordable camping market. I have a couple of their other camping items and they seem to make very affordable knock offs of the same expensive brand equipment selling for $$$$ in REI. With that said, I was expecting good things with this sleeping pad from them and was not disappointed. After opening the pad and the valve, I let it expand in my tent for about 40 minutes. It re-inflated to about 40% and then used my flextail pump to get it the rest of the way inflated. I like the twist valve on this pad vs the friction button on other pads. Those friction buttons always fail and some point and it sucks finding yourself on the floor of your tent in the middle of the night. That's not a problem here. The pad is rated at an R value of 10 and while I have not slept with it during winter, I did have a comfortable nights rest where the temp went down to 42 degrees. It's certainly much better than the old intex inflatable I used when I first started camping and didnt know better. Woke up the next morning and the pad was still inflated. Which is impressive since I'm over the recommended weight of the pad by 40 lbs. I'll be using this on an upcoming trip to NC and I'll update my review if the pad has any issues after this trip and in the future. ... show more
