  • Updated Review -- DON'T USE THREADLOCKER!
Style: Out Front Mount
LATEST UPDATE (10/23/2022): I previously reported that I was disappointed with the Spigen out front bike phone mount because it failed after less than one week. Specifically, the plastic around the mounting screw cracked as I was re-attaching the phone mount to the handlebars of my mountain bike (see attached photos). I had previously attached the phone mount to my handlebars (for the first time) with no problem. When I initially attached the phone mount to my bike, I used a low-strength threadlocker because I was concerned vibration from trail riding might cause the mounting screw to become loose. I used a low-strength threadlocker for the initial install because that was all I had on hand. Five days later, I purchased some blue, semi-permanent threadlocker. It was after I removed the phone mount and applied the blue, semi-permanent threadlocker that the plastic around the mounting screw cracked while I was reinstalling the phone mount. I have since done some research and learned that threadlocker products, like Loctite, that contain methacrylic ester and cumene hydroperoxide do not play nice with plastic. I read numerous reports that threadlocker eats into the plastic, making it brittle. In fact, the Technical Data Sheet for Loctite Blue 242 Threadlocker expressly states: "Not for use on plastic parts, particularly thermoplastic materials where stress cracking of the plastic could result." I now believe it was the low-strength threadlocker that I applied to the mounting screw when I first installed the Spigen phone mount that caused the arm to crack while I was reinstalling the phone mount five days later. When I first installed the phone mount, there was some excess threadlocker pooled around the head of the mounting screw. I attempted to wipe the excess threadlocker off, but wasn't able to get all of it off because the mounting screw is recessed in the plastic. Significantly, it was the plastic around the head of the mounting screw -- exactly where the excess threadlocker had pooled -- that cracked while I was reinstalling the phone mount (see attached photos). I don't think that was a coincidence. I think the threadlocker that pooled around the head of the mounting screw during my initial installation made the plastic in that area weak and brittle, resulting in the stress cracking that occurred when I reinstalled the phone mount five days later. Within 24 hours of my contacting Spigen's customer service, Spigen agreed to send me a replacement phone mount at no cost, so I give Spigen's customer service a 5-star review. I received the replacement phone mount five days later, which I have installed without using threadlocker. I am upgrading my rating of the Spigen out front bike phone mount to 4 stars. Once installed, it is rock solid. My phone doesn't budge when riding, although I have only used the phone mount on paved roads and greenways at this point. My only concern is it's durability over the long haul. I am withholding the fifth star until I've used it longer. ... show more

  • So far so good
Style: Out Front Mount
I mounted this on my city bike and it works great so far. I read reviews about it breaking so I'm not sure how long it will last. I have my phone in a fairly robust shock absorbing case if it falls off. It's a cheaper alternative to a quad lock which doesn't offer a case for my Pixel phone.

  • A good alternative to Quad Locks
Style: Stem Mount
I already have a bunch of Quad Lock mounts and have used them on the majority of my bikes and I can say the Quad Lock system is hands down the best way to securely mount your phone to your bike. I wanted to use my new bike right away but I just recently got a new phone and I didn't have another universal adapter or Quad Locks case and I couldn't get one immediately (within 24 hours) so I decided to try out the Spigen Gearlock system. The Spigen version is the same $40 as the universal fit kit with the stem mount from Quad Lock, but the Spigen might be a tad bulkier but is also lighter. While the Quad Lock mount mechanism requires you to press the collar or lever down, the Spigen requires you to push the lever inward to release your phone. Both use high-quality 3M adhesive and both securely hold your phone with little to no movement. Where the Spigen IMO is better and worse is how it secures to your bike since it essentially uses a large adjustable plastic collar. This collar is adjusted via a plastic screw, which some have mentioned stripping. The good news is if you broke or stripped the screw you could buy a large zip-tie and use that instead, but yes the screw feels cheap so watch how much your torque it. Secondly, while the strap itself feels sturdy the excess length is just left there to dangle. In comparison, the Quad Lock uses elastic bands which don't need to be adjusted and don't have any excess material, but I found the bands tend to move slightly more than the plastic strap mechanism. So yeah a very good system but just not quite as good as Quad Locks. I will say if you need a kit ASAP and can't wait then the Spigen system is a good alternative. ... show more

  • Great on my Motorcycles
Style: Out Front Mount
I've had this mount for nearly a year now. I was happy enough that I have installed the same system on all three of my motorcycles. It is sturdy and stable and I have had no troubles. I made sure I had a back-up strap to catch my phone should the arm break, but that is just good practice for anything fragile. I would do the same if I was using one of the more expensive brands. I never trust tape mounts, so I sewed my adapter to the back of the case and it holds great. I have been very pleased and at a fraction of the cost of the competitors. ... show more

  • Excellent Bike Mount
Style: Out Front Mount
This bike phone mount is leaps and bounds better than my prior one that I had. The locking mechanism on it securesa sturdy, strong hold. I have tested it on uneven pavement as well as bumpy terrain, and it has stood up against all challenges thus far. I suppose more time will only tell. I have no qualms about my phone falling out of the security lock. The only downfall is that I had to sacrifice my phone case to always having a mounting plate bracket on it. I might just purchase a second phone case for general use when not on my bike. ... show more
