I had no idea how noticable the difference would be from a standard paper cabin filter. There's a reason why this activated carbon filter costs a bit more, because it works three times as good as a standard paper filter. Great product.

I bought these filters for both my cars. Naturally, when you do it yourself you save about 75% off what the dealer would charge. Maybe more. My only knock against these is the charcoal activation makes them look darker, so it's hard to tell how dirty they really are. Compared to the stock cabin air filter in my Dodge Durango, you can definitely notice improved filtering. After 3k miles, it was very refreshing not smelling every single foul odor on the road. Roadkill, exhaust fumes, all barely noticeable with this air filter installer. However, I think they went a little too far on filtration. As you can certainly notice about a 20-30% reduction in airflow from the vents. The HVAC system still had no problem keeping up with 114-degree weather, even though it may have taken a little longer to cool down. It's going to be a trade-off or compromise if you will. I recently moved to Seoul, Korea so we need to replace the cabin air filter in the car more often as the air quality is not that great here. These were reasonably priced and have activated carbon so I bought three of these for our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. They come with installation instructions which seem fine but I didn't use them because the internet. You could probably figure out how to change them using the instructions, but an internet video is always better. The pictures I posted compare the new filter beside the old, stock filter. They look similarly dirty because the stock filter on the left is in fact dirty (they come completely white when new) and the new one on the right has the carbon in it. Also, the stock filter has 54 pleats and the Spearhead filter only has 33. More pleats = more filter area. I suspect this filter is less effective than the stock filter and will need to be changed more often. Lastly, after I changed it and drove around a bit, we noticed a distinct cardboardy smell in the car. Sort of like what a new 1000-peice puzzle smells like. It's not a horrible smell, but it isn't particularly pleasant either. I suspected that maybe it wasn't the filter, but since I bought three I opened another one and took a good whiff. Indeed, it smelled like a new Springbrook. It wasn't as strong as it was in the car, but I also wasn't forcing heated air through it at 1000 cfm. I'd recommend not buying this product. I have purchased other well-known brands before with the carbon and the infused scents. Not sure if they work better, but they smell better. Also, maybe I should just stick to the regular non-carbon filters with more pleats. ... show more
