I almost never write an Amazon review, but I liked this vacuum so much I wanted to share my experience with it--I bought it to replace an aging "Rigid Pro" shop vac. The power rating (6.5hp) is the same as my Rigid, but the performance with "The Beast" is much better (I would bet that the motors are all made by the same parts manufacturer because all the top vacs have a 6.5HP rating--its in the overall design where the big differences are). Pros: Very quiet Very powerful suction High quality parts (except for the hose) Large rear wheels are a blessing Great design for storage, snapping the top on and off, changing a bag or filter, storing the cord, hose and tools Cons: Cheap extruded hose just like every Vac out there No brush attachment I use this vac in my woodshop attached to a 18' flex hose on a reel. That means that the suction is reduced due to the length of the hose. I can tell from this machine that it can grab a lot more dust and debris in the crevices of my tools than the old Rigid with the same power rating. But even if it were just the same, the Vacmaster beats the Rigid hands down in the following ways: --It is much more quiet, perhap[s by half or more --It is much easier to move around (whoever designed vacs with those tiny wheels never tried to use one in a shop where there are extension cords laying all over and chunks of wood) because of the large rear wheels --The actual vacuum itself is thoughtfully designed with a place to store the hose, a great cord storage system that cost the manufacturer extra they really didn't have to provide but they did, the latch system to get the lid on and off just snaps instead of having to fight with the side handles, a great attachment bag--everything looks like it will go for the long haul --The only area I would recommend thinking about adding to this machine is the actual vacuum hose itself. Its the normal extruded 2.5" crappy flex hose about five or six feet long with attachments but no brush attachment. I am totally satisfied with the value here interns of what i got for what I paid--its super, but if you don't have a longer, superior hose system, you are going to need to go on Amazon and buy one, and that is true for EVERY vacuum on the market--there are just no good hoses that come with these machines. Bottom line--This is the right vac for a shop or garage, more than worth the price which is actually cheaper than some other brands. I am tired or poorly designed, cheaply made tools and gear--this is as good as it gets, better than I hoped and so worth the price! ... show more

    • Powerful, especially for cleaning up small particles quickly
I love this vacuum! I know NOTHING about shop vacs, but I found this online and decided to order it because I wanted a HEPA vacuum and a vacuum to clean up small particles. I was able to put it together easily because the directions in the manual are very detailed and clear, and I am a person who cannot put together furniture, etc. so this vacuum has to be easy get up and running if I was able to do that!! I bought this to clean up debris that continuously falls under and around a riser pipe in an apt. I cleaned up the debris quickly with the Vacmaster vacuum and there was no left over residue. I also vacuumed the rest of the floor very quickly and thoroughly. I contacted Vacmaster customer service about a part, and they answered right away and took care of my problem quickly and professionally. Great vacuum and great customer service! ... show more

Re-review!! I found the supposedly missing parts in the very bottom of the box as I wa breaking it down to recycle My bad!!! It is a great vacuum although very big it does the job well This is my second purchase of this vac first one got left outside in the rain but didnt want to chance the dirt in the bag gettng mold. really liked it due to comprehensive hepa system Unpaved 2nd new one today Very unimpressed that there were 4 missing parts which required a trip to the hardware store unprofessionally packed and poor quality control bummer ... show more

Awesome vaccume. Was able to take care of some fiberglass that had leaked from my mattress very easily. It was a little hard to maneuver without putting a kink in the hose but overall very effective once you get the hang of it

    • I LOVE THE HEPA FILTER
I love the fact that this vac has a Hepa filter. It maneuvers quite well - it is bulky. I love the long hose and power cord. It has excellent suction and is surprisingly less loud than I expected. I appreciate that there are 2 different filter bags available - one for finer dust like saw dust. I like that the wand has locking pieces making it quite long. The things I am not as happy about are: the flexible hose is heavy and it is a struggle to keep it attached to the rigid wands. The locking tabs on the rigid wands are stiff making it difficult to lock and unlock - hopefully they will loosen with use. There are places for the locking wand sections to store on the vac base but they do not work well. There is no built in storage for the hose - I will buy a hose band to somehow attach it to the hook for the power cord storage. There is no on-board storage for the attachments - I will buy a nylon bag to use. I understand this vac is meant for industrial use so these issues may not apply in that application. OVERALL it is an excellent vac and I would highly recommend it. ... show more

    • Love it second best out of the last 10 shop vacs.
Love this vacuum so far. It is the quietest with the most suction our of the ones I've gotten for under $150. Nothing can compare with my Festool one, but that is from an entire different world and price range. It is what drywallers use to have no dust anywhere. This vacuum I got to use with my hand sander and clean up in the shop/house. The stick vacs and "normal" vacs just weren't working "right". I killed too many. After an hour of use, I'm happy with it. The tools and hose are a lot better than competitor's at this price point too. I'm considering getting a second for a family member. Now...we'll see how long the filter and the vacuum last. I do use it everyday, with a bag, to extend the filter life. However, the longest I've had a vacuum last is about 2 years and that one came used from an estate sale. ... show more
