These seem very strong and work well. The only complaint is the assembly instructions are somewhat lacking. The stamped unpainted U shaped piece is not depicted well in the drawing - FYI the flat surface faces DOWN the sides face up. The template made this pretty easy to install on my workbench that weighs about 400 or 500 pounds. The legs on my bench are at a 20 degree angle which prevented the wheels from swiveling well so I had to add a wedge to the bottom of each leg to make them all sit perpendicular to the floor. I wanted casters on one of my workbenches so I can roll it out of my shop when I am grinding a lot of material and don't want all the debris and spark residue to cleanup afterwards. But I wanted to avoid having the casters supporting the full weight of the bench all of the time. These type of design is just what I wanted. I really liked the idea, but wasn't sure if my expectations would meet reality. I would have to say that these are not perfect, but they do work as designed. Installation was fairly straightforward, and I did not have any issues with the supplied screws as some others have. Not sure if that is dependent on the material you are fastening these to, or if the quality of the hardware itself has been improved. Instructions were not great...I ended up installing upside down the silver plate that the caster bolts into. And immediately knew something was wrong when it wasn't working. Came back to the product description here with much better pictures, and it was very apparent where i went wrong. Some better printed instructions would have helped avoid that. But not a deal breaker. The lever to move the caster up and down works without a lot of pressure, but no so loose as to feel 'flimsy'. Overall I am happy with the purchase. ... show more

    • Works well, but no installation instructions read for tips

The product is sturdy and works well. All that is included is a template to drill the holes for the mounting plate, which that is nice. That's it though, i referenced the picture of the product here to know how it all goes together, not a huge deal to me but be advised. Also, don't assemble the whole thing and then try to mount it (like I did) I wanted to see how it went together before it's on the table i'm moving around, problem is you can't get at the screws correctly with it together, so there is a definite order of operation here. 1. drill some pilot holes using the template. I only did the center ones as the screws tap into wood easily and in my application no risk of splitting. 2. mount the plate, mind the orientation the indented part is up. 3. attach silver plate with the U facing up if you will. 4. attach the wheel 5. attach the top cam lever done... Thing is you gotta do it in that order, you can't tighten the wheel down if the top cam lever is on (for example) and you can't get at the screws to mount the plate if it's together. I gave this 5 stars because at this price point and performance it deserves that, hopefully this helps someone else. ... show more

I have a large cement-floored barn. I had some extra kitchen/dining room tables that I wanted to use as worktables instead of letting them just sit disassembled gathering dust. But I wanted to keep the floorspace of the barn easily re-configurable since I do oil changes and other vehicle maintenance in the building and need to be able to quickly clear floor space. For the first table, I used some old, but high-quality metal-framed-with-bearing office chair casters. They work and they were free, so I am just going to keep using them. But for the second table, I ordered these. The better relative usability and suitability is clearly evident. The first table with the re-purposed casters rolls but is hesitant to move and I can’t let it down on the legs. These roll much easier, and I can let the table down on the legs for extra stability if needed. Installation was simple enough. As others have mentioned, there may be a slight learning curve with your first caster as the instructions (or rather lack thereof) are unclear. But after learning and seeing the process, it is easy enough. The included fasteners are of decent quality. I pre-drilled all the holes and none of the screws stripped out when installed with an impact driver. But I’ve had enough experience with these types of products to see that if you did not pre-drill, these would almost certainly strip out. The included “disposable wrenches” are actually of quite high quality. I had an entire workbench full of wrenches and sockets sitting 6 feet away during installation and I just kept using the included “disposable” tools. Sometimes tools like that are terrible but in this case they are excellent for this specific application. After installation, I tested both tables rolling up and onto some thin carpet. The re-purposed casters struggled. These did so easily. ... show more
