I'm a CPAP user and I wanted a bookcase headboard where I can store the CPAP machine and tuck away the hose each morning for a nice, tidy setup. I could only find one other manufacturer that offered something like this and it was $600 and came in Queen/King and I wanted full size. The South Shore Bookcase headboard arrived and there were no damaged parts or missing pieces. Instructions were fairly easy to use, as always, they could use more basic text explaining what the pictures and arrows and finished/unfinished sides mean. But each part was marked clearly and assembly took maybe 45 minutes. It looks really good for the price, and the sliding bookcase doors are gold. The center section has a hole to pass an electrical cord, I drilled a hole in each of the other compartments too. I would have like the depth of the bookcase compartments to be maybe 2" deeper, in a perfect world, but overall, this is a good piece of furniture. ... show more

Pros: 1) The piece is beautiful and functional. It looks really great in my daughter's room. 2) Before mounting it to the wall, I leaned the headboard against a wall so I could pull the bed away from the wall and maneuver the headboard in place. Well, the headboard is top heavy, so it ended up falling over and hitting the corner of the bed frame which caused one of the sliding drawers to break (also scratched off a piece of the beautiful gray wood finish). I called their customer support line and was able to get the part replaced, no questions asked, at no cost to me. Cons: 1) During assembly, I wish they put marker spots for where to nail in the nails. At one point I nailed a bit too far in and caused the wood to split in the back corner of the shelf. 2) If you don't buy the bed that pairs with this headboard, you'll need to mount it ot the wall instead of the bed. I had to buy a separate mounting kit to mount it to the wall. Since this item is sold separately, I wish they would have had a mounting to the wall kit available as an option. 3) I needed some assembly help at one point, and when I called I was hung up on twice after being on hold for 18 and 21 minutes. I ended up figuring out the mounting bit on my own. (never got through to the assembly help line). 4) The replacement piece I received and holes for the drawer handle that were not spaced correctly. I downsized from a king to a full sized bed so I would have more room in my bedroom. This head board looks great and has all the space I need for books and my electronics that my king size headboard had. It was easy for this 66 year old handicapped woman to assemble. Did I mention IT LOOKS GREAT

Great headboard- love the sliding doors for hidden storage. We did not bolt ours to the wall or the bed frame but it’s wide and deep enough that we didn’t feel like we needed to. My 11 year old picked this headboard out and I had to agree it was a great find. He is always reading, drawing, and playing with small toys (lego's, tech deck's, etc) at night before lights out so the sliding door storage works great for him and keeps items out of his while he's sleeping. I would have given 5 stars but we had an issue connecting the headboard to the frame and had to purchase additional brackets-not expensive and definitely not a deal breaker. ... show more

Bought it for daughter to be able store things within reach. It looks great and is pretty solid. The design for assembly was not good at all. Assembly was very difficult and then we had to attach blocks of wood to the head board in order to attach it to our frame. Although we did not get the frame that matches so maybe it would attach easier to their frame. ... show more
