If you can only get one lens for Sony mirrorless cameras - THIS IS THE ONE. Everything about it is ideal. The image quality is the best you're gonna get in its class. The autofocus is unmatched (make sure to turn on breathing compensation for the smoothest focus). If you need something tighter, activate the Super-35 mode (if you can). With an 82mm thread size, slap on a V-ND filter (K&F for me) and you can get the sharpest 2.8 aperture shots in almost any setting. Incredible performance in a great compact fit. This lens is sooooo close to perfect to me. My only wish - I'd love to see Sony come up with a way to minimize or eradicate the extended lens when zooming in or out, like they did with the 70-200mm GMII but with the small overall size of the lens, I can't imagine how tricky it would be to get it done. ... show more

Sony's GM2 series of lenses are pretty spectacular and this one is well worth the cost. With a focal range of 24-70mm it's an excellent lens for medium range shooting. The auto focus is super fast and images are sharp and clear. Bokeh is smooth and wide ranging as depth of field is adjusted with f-stop. This lens is equally adept shooting still photagraphy and video. This lens is very well built and with proper care will hold it's value for many many years. I highly recommend it. ... show more

    • Excellent zoom lens, lightweight and very convenient for traveling.
I used it extensively in my road trip to south Italy and the photos taken have all the detail I hoped for , with my old Sony a7R body . I think it can easily cover 80% of the amateur photographer needs during travelling.
