  • Took some playing around to get it working
I have all Ubiquiti access points. I set them to 2.4GHz only but could not pair the sensor. I read post from another reviewer that said he used 2.4GHz B (not G or N). Perhaps I'm overlooking the option but I couldn't figure out how to disable G and N on these Ubiquiti APs so I went to my box of old routers and pulled one out. I created a different wifi network and set it to B and it worked. I figure I'll just leave this old router hooked up for these devices and hope they bring them up to date so this nonsense isn't necessary. On another note, Ewelink now has a "Pilot Feature" in their app to help pair devices. In the app click on Profile in lower right, Pilot Features, then Add Device. If you pair the device using this method it's much simpler. UPDATE: Turns out on the Ubiquiti Unifi Controller under wireless networks/advanced there is a checkbox for Legacy Support that you check in order to enable B/G operation. ... show more

  • A little finicky to pair, but when it works, it does its intended job.
First, I'm not using this as a door sensor. I wanted it as an out-call notification when my alarm panel is activated. Located at a rural cabin, the alarm panel drives a siren so used that output through a relay to activate this sensor, which in turn provides a push notification to my phone. It did not pair up like my other Sonoff switches, but found that the bluetooth pairing option went smoothly and quickly. At this point, it does everything I wanted it to do - just hope it has longevity I also substituted a 3 vdc power supply for the batteries so I can't properly assess battery life, but none of that would apply to its expected use as a door/ window sensor. I did play with it using the included magnet, as well as other magnets, and the greatest sensitivity appears to be above and below the alignment mark on the sensor - nearer the ends of the reed switch inside the sensor. The included magnet also needs to be in very close proximity to the sensor - minimal spacing - and that could be an issue in actual application. If I were using this as a door sensor, and couldn't obtain the minimum spacing required for consistent holding and triggering, I would probably substitute a stronger magnet. I tried various combinations of rare-earth disc magnets made for fridge clips, and found I had a much better range of sensitivity without the need to keep spacing so close - and once the door opens, any field effect is gone and you still get a trigger. Get past the pairing and it should do the job. ... show more

  • Works but battery life is terrible
Bought the unit to be a garage door sensor so I knew if my garage door was open or closed when I am away from home. Cheaper than a camera.. I now bought a camera because the battery life is terrible. 2 fresh battery's lasted about 24 hours. Tried two times. Third set of battery's ( Energizer Long Life) I took the unit down and set it on a wooden table in my living room without any activity and it had been 12 hours and the battery is half gone. I was thinking maybe the metal garage door was draining the battery, but same result on a wooden surface. Two star instead of one because it does work as expected, but battery life is not the 2 to 3 months I expected. ... show more

  • Wish IFTTT was supported.
Wifi 2.4g requires ssid name without spaces to pair successfully.

  • Easy to use and possible to modify for small spaces.
Relatively easy to set up with the app- did have to try a few times with a couple of them. I did figure out that the sensor is just a small cylindrical magnet. So on doors/windows where there isn’t enough room for the entire sensor, you can pry open the plastic housing on the smaller piece and just tape the cylindrical magnet in place (just make sure it’s close enough to register using the app). It does take a bit of muscle (I used a pliers). ... show more

  • Almost impossible to to pair. be sure to have B protocol supported on your wifi.
I make sure to have a Wifi 2.4GHz, Try all possible ways to pair it, and hasn't been possible, not exact support for error 6315, and description on manufacturer user manual is too general, it says check your user manual, but it says nothing. I have other Smart devices from the same brand and they paired immediately and work perfect, but this DW2 was about to throw it to the trash but in a forum I read besides to have 2.4GHz wifi network, its protocol have to support 'b', then once I did that config (by default it was G/N) to add the b protocol immediately I was able to pair and use. About the ITEAD support is a waste of time to read it, it says nothing, just make sure you have 2.4GHz Wifi and b protocol on it. I'll test it for a few days, and maybe update my general qualification. ... show more

  • No complaints
These are great. They’re smaller than I thought they’d be, stick well even after having to be moved a couple of times to get the alignment right, and have so far held their charge better than another brand I was using before. All that and their native app is my preferred, though it would be easy to flash them if you so desired. My only ask would be for them to make one with a way to connect an external sensor. This one would not be easy to modify in that way. ... show more

  • One of the few that work, with some comprises.
Pros: - One of the few door sensors that can report both open and close events - Doesn't require a hub - Works well with other SO OFF devices, IFTTT, Home assistant and others Cons: - Battery life is pretty short. I used up the first set of batteries during setup and testing. The second set looks like they might last a month or two - Wifi is pretty finicky and took a while to get setup. Your router must support 802.11b. - There can be a very large lag when using the eWelink app. I think it might be something on the server end because local operation with Home assistant is much faster. ... show more
