    • If you just purchased an a7IV, get this ASAP. Easy install and way better than the stock evf eyecup.

I am very glad I ordered this. The stock eye cup is so small when you put your eye against it you almost have to turn your head sideways or look at it from weird angles to use it, so its very uncomfortable. Also light easily can sneak in and obscure your view of the EVF when you are trying to take shots outside and see the image clearly when using the stock a7IV eyecup. This replacement eyecup solves both of these problems by making the eyecup comfortable and so your nose does not touch the screen and it also completely blocks out the light. Its only 14 bucks to solve the problem, and it literally makes the camera feel so much better. Some people complain it takes their eyes too far from the viewfinder, but since it is comfortable rubber you can just press your eye in a bit and that solves that problem, also the viewfinder is easy to see even without pressing in IMHO. You are never going to be able to have a perfect setup of eyecup to evf, so this is prob as close as you could get for the perfect stock eyecup for the a7IV. I think generally this will work for most people and they will be very happy with it. How to install: Its very easy to install, you just pinch the two buttons on the bottom of the stock a7iv rubber eyecup and slide it up and off (look closely and you wills see the little levers to pinch), then you slide the new eye cup on (from the top down) and it clicks in to place perfectly. ... show more

This is a really helpful product. It fits great and helps block the sun. My only complaint is that you lose your cold shoe. I wish they would come out with a version that had an additional cold show mount on top so I could mount a microphone when using the eyepiece.

When I initially received this, I tried it outside, and thought that it was possible that there was not enough black out on the interior of the cup, but after several days of use, the cup became comfortable, and the "reflection" on the cup interior became less of an issue. There is still some minor difficulty in seeing the camera setting through the viewfinder and this eye cup, but nothing like the one that was supplied with the camera. I wear eyeglasses, and I am left eye dominate, so this eye cup, did resolve to real issues in that I can hold it up to my eyeglasses, not push as hard against them, and this device does not scratch my glasses during use. Well worth the costs, and did what was advertised, and at a very reasonable cost. Please note that it does take some firm pressure to mount this, but it will not cause any damage to the camera doing so. ... show more

The one I bought fit the Sony A7RV perfectly and seems of good design and function. However, the eye cup is very soft and with glasses collapses easily. Maybe that's a good thing since it holds one's eye too far from the EVF to see the top and bottom of display where the settings are. Pushing in, they can be seen. Also, I use the rubber ring against my brow for stabilization but that doesn't work with a soft eye cup. I used it for a whole day of shooting outside and switched it back to the OEM one. ... show more

    • An Accessory On All Of My Sony Cameras

I work with a number of different Sony camera bodies and one of the first things that I always do when getting a new body is to put one of these extended silicone eyecups on. They are very well made and hold up well, I have yet to have one fail. The quality and fit is pretty much identical to an OEM Sony product. I like having the extra coverage when working in very bright conditions and I can get a great view through my viewfinder without ambient light leak while also giving me just a little extra room so the back of the body does not need to be smashed right up against my face. The only potential con I might have is that because they extend off the body much further than the factory eyecup, it could make the body take up just a little extra room which is really only the case for me in a very tightly packed camera bag, which I only have to do on rare occasions. The couple of times that has been a concern, I just pop them off while in transit and securely store them in the bag and pop them back on when it's time to work. An extended eyecup may not be the preference for everyone but if you want to try one, this is the brand to get. ... show more
