  • Lost potential/money dump
Color: White
This has a lot of potential but profits nerfed this potentially OP'ed remote player. I got this because I have a child who spends half their time over at the other parents house and we sometimes wanna play COD zombies together but their side of the family doesn't have a console to play on. I thought since I got us a PS5 I could simply get a portal and they could play whenever they were visiting their mom.. unfortunately, being the money hungry industry this is, they made it so you absolutely must get a basic ps online account and if you wanna connect another portal you must upgrade the account to the plus so one acts as a remote player while the other uses the play station plus storage to play. All this is nice and all but, some of us can't afford this stuff and just wanna use this for what it was intended to be used for. Bonding with your loved ones and having a fun time, but unfortunately these large corporations just don't care about those little moments.. so all I have to say is be careful if you do decide to get this, because it's a lot more expensive than you think, just to get it set up. So much lost potential, plus they could of made this even better by making it so one can play games offline too, instead of catering to Nintendo, they could of made a switch eliminator. ... show more

  • I use it way more than I expected.
Color: White
I use this way more than I expected I would. When my wife is watching shows I don't lovein the living room I often play games using this next to her on the couch. Nice evening? I be played outside in the hammock. The performance is great and lag/delay exists at times but is very minimal. I wouldn't play call of duty on it, but for games like bg3 or even ncaa football doesn't really matter. I had a harder time using it with nba2k as the shot release timing is so important and that tiny delay was felt. Important to note we have reliable and very fast internet and my ps5 is connected via ethernet. Can't vouch for performance for those with other setups. ... show more

  • Works as advertised
Color: White
The portal feels lighter than it looks, feels a lot like dualsense PS5 controller. After a firmware update, you no longer are required to own a PS5 to use this product, as long as you have a Playstation plus premium subscription. With the subscription, you're allowed to use the beta feature to stream certain selected games (around 100). The portal functions like a Wii U gamepad essentially & it shows whatever is on your PS5 displayed on the portal screen. The portal will not play cloud streaming games if you try to access them through the PS5, nor will it function with any media apps. I started using my portal by connecting it to my PSN account. Then I made sure I used an ethernet cable for my PS5, because it allows for a smoother experience & lets you use the portal anywhere there's wifi available. I have not tested the quality of this feature, but I have spent dozens of hours playing games at my house when my gf or roommates are using the tv my PS5 is set up with. If several people are using the broadband then the portals connection to the PS5 will become unstable, but I can safely say that this is not a frequent issue. There's a bit of a delay but honestly it's not that much worse than modern wireless controller input delay. I wouldn't think to play games online with my portal but I've played a ton of elden ring on it & it feels great. I love handheld consoles but this isn't really a console, it's mostly an accessory. Despite that, I really enjoy it. It's hard to recommend to people because most people will be content playing their Playstation library on their tv screen, but if you live with several people & don't own several tvs, then it's a nice option for gamers. ... show more

  • Seamless PS5 Gaming On-the-Go
Color: White
The PlayStation Portal Remote Player is a fantastic handheld option for PS5 owners who want to play away from the TV. With its crisp 8-inch 1080p screen, responsive DualSense-style controls, and smooth Remote Play performance over Wi-Fi, it delivers a great gaming experience—especially around the house. While it lacks Bluetooth support and only works with a local PS5 (no cloud gaming), it’s perfect for gamers who want to continue playing when the TV is in use or for lounging and gaming from anywhere at home. If you have a solid internet connection, this is a stylish and convenient companion for your PS5 setup. ... show more
