I have frequented a resort where they rent mask and snorkel sets for a day for more than this one costs to purchase. This set is a bargain! It also has a lot of plusses. I immediately noticed how clear the lens is but then again I'm comparing it to a set I've had for 20+ years. I like the clear silicone mask areas as it allows ambient light to come through. The straps are easily adjustable and getting a tight fit was simple. The snorkel with the dry pipe is a bit different than I'm used to. When I come up from a dive I instinctively blow out a burst of air to clear the tube. This isn't necessary with the dry top snorkel - I keep telling myself this but I can't give up the habit. The mouthpiece is soft and watertight. I am a little concerned about the bottom of the snorkel as it seems a little flimsy and could kink but I haven't had a problem with that yet. I was honestly a little surprised by how much I liked this mask and snorkel set. I've always felt like the "dry top" designs are somewhat gimmicky (even if they may be effective), but I like the combination of dry top with a drain in this set. Also, the dry top assembly is easily removable if you don't like it, or if you find it restrictive. I'm also a big fan of the color blue, which automatically elevates this over some other, non-blue designs. Since starting my scuba investigation journey, I've learned some things, such as why scuba masks have a separate nose compartment (which this does). I've started looking for that when I look at a mask. I've also learned that if you have a mustache, a bit of vaseline will fix the seal on your upper lip, at least to a modest (20-30 ft) depth. I'm mildly concerned about the flexibility of the snorkel tube; it's great for packing/travel, but it seems like it could collapse in use if the angle gets too far out of alignment. I think this design with the 'expansion' zone should largely mitigate that, but a part of me remembers when snorkels were not much more than a piece of PVC pipe...I'm pretty sure this is better overall, but I find myself very conscious of that. Overall, I'd say you can do much worse, and for a relatively inexpensive introductory set, you could spend a lot more for something that's not as good. So I do recommend this. ... show more

The Wife and I go snorkeling about once a week at Padre Island National Seashore. We upgraded from a standard snorkel to this 'dry top' snorkel that blocks water before it enters the breathing tube. That's important for us because the ocean waves, even small waves, fill the snorkel tubes constantly. With this dry-top snorkel, we don't have to deal with constantly being waterlogged. The mask gives a clear, 180-degree field of view. The silicone material seals securely and comfortably to my face. I haven't experienced any cracking or dulling of the face mask in 10 uses. Overall a great snorkeling set that gives a good value for the money. It was easy to tighten down and the soft silicone provided a good seal without causing those unsightly lines on your face from over-tightening. The attachment mechanism occasionally slid around on the strap and put it at a bad angle, causing the tube to bend - you'll notice the kink immediately as it becomes difficult to breath - as if the tube is too small. You don't the best field of view, but the silicone sides are transparent enough to notice if swimmers are to your left and right Pros: -Good field of view -Good seal without excessive tightening -Straps are easy to tighten -Didn't suck in any salt water while snorkeling Cons: -no side windows like more expensive options -can kink easily, making it harder to breath -received an older or different attachment mechanism - doesn't have rotation ... show more

Upon opening this set, I was pleasantly surprised by the look and feel. It seems like a decent quality dry snorkel mask combo. I really like that it includes the mesh bag. The mask has a really soft silicone seal that fits my face very well. The head band is also made of the same soft silicone. The head band is wide and comfortable. Overall, this mask is actually more comfortable than my expensive name brand scuba mask. I gave it my seal test. Look straight down, place the mask on your face without using the strap, and inhale through your nose. If the mask fits reasonably well, it should stick to your face without falling off. For me, it sealed very well. It has a very clear tempered glass with no distortion. I might try it on a 30 ft scuba dive. The dry snorkel looks decent and matches the mask well. It has a nice soft silicone mouth piece that is comfortable in the mouth. The mask clip with quick disconnect appears to be okay. It stays where you put it and doesn’t slide on the snorkel tube. The clip mask strap holder is a little thin and it very difficult to get on to the mask. I might replace the clip with an actual scuba clip. The snorkel tube is firm but flexible. My only real issue with this snorkel is the flex tube portion. It looks like it is suppose to but doesn’t function like it should. The flex section collapses too easily when bent and could restrict the airway. They manufacturer made it to appear functional but didn’t understand the purpose for the ridges. I think this set is a good set for snorkeling. I look forward to trying it while on vacation in a couple of weeks. We’ll see how it holds up in salt water. I always wanted to use a snorkel and I finally got my hands on this one and had a ton of fun with it. I went on a quiet day and was able to swim comfortably. They are kind of tight but I got no water in my nose which is great.
