I absolutely am super impressed with this crossbar! I was disappointed without having visual instructions included in the box, though with help, it was easy to get together using directions listed on product page. Since I am more of a visual learner, I include my photos and instructions to help talk you into this sturdy, good looking addition to my car! Step #1- Remove key covers by unlocking and pulling with key to slide straight out of bracket. Then slide crossbar(blue) into the cover designed to fit with the black rubber gasket side up. Step #2 - line up crossbar with outside screw insertion hole. Insert phillips head screw (pink) to hand tight. Step #3 - loosen both clamp adjustment (yellow) and crossbar length adjustment (green) with hex wrenches provided. The crossbar screw only needs to be loosened just enough to become a spring push button (1/2 inch give it take). Step #4 - Adjust length of crossbar by pushing the screw "button" and wiggling crossbar ends to the EQUAL with needed. (Mine was 2 notches showing on the underside of the crossbar to each side). Step #4 - Place crossbar on car roof runners making sure the "front of the car" arrows are pointed towards the front. Hand tighten clamp adjustment, then hand tighten the crossbar length adjustment with provided hex wrenches. Last Step, #5 - slide key covers into correct crossbar ends with the " front of car " arrow pointing towards front of car, lock and enjoy as much as I am!!!! Hope this is helpful, best wishes.

Time will tell, but first impressions are strong. I used to drive a Jeep so I cant say if it added any noise to my ride (some people complain of this with budget bars). I can’t tell anything louder from before. It doesn’t come with instructions so I’ll briefly explain. Use the key to take the covers of the end caps. Use the large allen key to loosen the brackets so that you can clamp it where you would like on your roof. Pay attention to orientation. There is an arrow pointing to front of car. Next step is to get the cross bars adjusted to the width. There are screw holes on the bar and end caps that will need lined up. Loosen the small allen head screw, that is in the end of the black portion of the crossbar, until there is a half inch of screw pulled out. It is now a spring button to adjust the width. Slide the bars into the end caps. Set one side with a screw. Push the allen head screw tab and wiggle each side to pull the black portions out equally on each side. Once you can secure the screw on the opposite side, tighten all allen heads to a good hand tightness. Don’t over do this part. Tight enough to not be able to move any of when pushed and pulled. Reinstall the end cap covers. I hope this helps get you on track if you were having trouble.

Pros: Aesthetically, once installed, it looks great. It has a very secure fit on my 2021 Ford Explorer. We looked at some other more expensive and popular brands and found that they charge extra for the locking mechanism. It was a huge plus that this came with locks. The sturdiness will be necessary when we load our Thule storage box for cross country travel. Cons: That damn adjustment mechanism! More than a few expletives came out of my mouth when adjusting the length. I recommend measuring the length first and attaching the caps to the bars on the ground. Also recommended making it a smidge longer than you measure. It's a lot easier to shorten than to lengthen. Overall, I think this product is a great value. I will update my review after some use, if necessary.

I've had these for a couple weeks and finally had an opportunity to get them set up. They seem to be pretty sturdy and should work for my purpose. About the only complaint I have is that the Instructions could be clearer. The biggest issue I had was getting the Crossbar Length Adjustment screw at the exact position so that it would work as a spring to be able to slide the black portion out of the crossbar. I figured out that if I used the allen wrench to push in on the screw while I tried to slide the black part out of the crossbar, I had better success. Other than that they were fairly easy to install.

Once you install the first rack the second is easy. Thanks to another Amazon customer who added his own installation instructions 👍. I would have given 5 stars if not for lack of instructions. The racks are very sturdy and are made vehicle specific so that there is no extra bar sticking out the side of the mounting bracket like a 1 size fits all product. The oem product costs 2.5 x more and looks and carries the same amount of weight. I actually feel that I subtracted 1 star from Amazon not the manufacturer. Amazon has enough $ that they could have made a quick video in as much as I could not find one on the tube

I picked these up because of the value. The instructions however for installation were terrible. I watched a quick video which helped and they went on fairly easily after that however they do tend to cause a bit of a whistle at highway speeds. They appeared to be aerodynamic and I did not anticipate the noise that I get off of them. All in all they were a decent value for the money and they serve a purpose.
