  • Awesome projector, but could use a few more features
This projector is awesome! But it could use a few more features. Pros: It is a small-medium size so it is easily portable. It has a rubberized surface at the bottom of the stand, so it will be stable and non-slip. This projector has so many uses (work presentations, parties, outdoor movie nights, gaming parties, and much more). It comes with a remote (which takes 2 AAA batteries, not included). In my opinion, the best thing is that it can connect to wifi, and you can download apps directly to the device - for example, it has movie channels, etc., but you can also get YouTube and other apps where you can watch various videos or movies. You can also mirror share with other smart devices and can connect to laptops. It also comes with AV cables, so you can connect to different types of devices (ex: gaming systems). It has features to auto-adjust and auto-focus, but you can also focus it via a remote (and these can be turned off, if you want). This projector has settings that allow you to project in many directions, including the ceiling. It also has a feature that auto-removes obstacles from view...For example, if there's a chair in the way, normally there would be a shadow or blacked-out segment on the screen/wall surface in the shape of the chair, but with this projector, it auto-corrects for the obstacle, so there's no interruption in the picture! I think that's very cool! The ports for HDMI, USB, etc, are all conveniently located at the top corner of the device, so it's super easy to connect devices (you don't have to turn the projector around or upside down to find the ports). Lastly, the projector comes with a lens cap, and a cleaning kit. Cons: The power cord is VERY short. So, you'll likely need an extension cord. The settings on the device are basic, which doesn't give you much ability to customize your settings (you basically just toggle functions on or off). Note: The view is the clearest when the projector is far away from the viewing surface, but this is a bit difficult given the short power cord. And, we didn't know about this initially... At first, we projected from our kitchen table onto the wall in front of it, and it was a bit blurry...we tried adjusting the clarity with the remote, but it was still a bit blurry. We then moved it to another location further away from the wall, and all of a sudden, it recognized that there was more room on the wall, so it auto-adjusted to project the image across the ENTIRE wall (including the archway into the hallway). Then, it was able to become clearer. So, while it's good that it was able to adjust itself, and was able to become clear if it's located further away from the wall...but, you're also not able to reduce the size of the display. In other words, if you don't want it projected across the whole wall, you can't adjust the projection area (or at least we haven't figured out how to do that yet). Lastly, you are required to use the remote for all functions of the projector, because the device does not have any buttons on it (other than a power button)...so, if your remote batteries die, or you forgot the remote at work, etc., then you're stuck! Overall, I'm very happy with this projector, and look forward to many uses. It's small, yet powerful. I love that you can connect to various apps right on the projector, and it's very easy to plug in other devices. I would recommend this projector. However, for the price point, I feel that the built-in settings are a bit basic, and not very customizable. For the average user, this is probably fine, but I also think there should be an "advanced" option for additional settings. ... show more

  • Not quite ready for prime time...
EDIT/UPDATE (7/15/24): After a few attempts, I was finally able to get the projector in focus. I also ran some measurements - at this value point, this projector straddles the 3 star / 4 star line (and I boosed to 4 because the seller was very responsive). Here's what I found: 1) I measured the iso lumens, and converted (crudely - its not a science here) to approximately 520 Ansi Lumens. This is not far off form the claims, and it probably does push 600. 2) It does appear to work on an android platform. This means you can download the "Play Store" (I'm not name dropping - haha) and have more standard apps. It is running 9.0, which is a little dated, so I'll let you decide whether that's worth the effort - I still say a Chromcast, Firestick, Roku - whatever your choice is - is the best alternative. It did not sound as if the company was looking to attempt upgrades to the OS. 3) I'm still finicky on fan noise - I measured at 53 db. This isn't exactly horrible - probably pretty average, and again, at this value-point - I can't really argue with a "noisy fan". Some may not even notice, especially if you don't have the projector right next to where you're watching. I find that the fan works pretty hard for an LCD (I'd think this would be more common with a DLP), so it runs a tiny bit warmer than some of the pricier competitors. Again, if its a value hunt - this projector actually does a pretty good job of checking a lot of boxes. There have been quite a few outstanding reviews for this projector. And I am sure they fit a need at a very good price point. Being someone who has owned quite a few projectors, I'm just going to put this out there - there are just a few that are worth the cost and that cost is never QUITE this low (though you can find them close). If you set your expectations low, you might be okay with a less than perfect projector...but its really worth just saving the extra dough and paying up. Here are my top concerns with this unit. 1) The pictures will speak for themselves. But wow - the picture just NEVER adjusted. Both are placed at 4 1/2 feet from the wall. And the auto focus on this projector just never figured it out. The blur was not even sorted with attempting to manually focus. I'm not sure if this is just a defective product, or if this is just not meant for smaller spaces. Some reviewers noted they were able to back it up and get it to adjust. But this means you're gonna need about 8 feet of separation to your screen, and probably a 100" surface - which is fine, but that leads me to my next gripe. 2) Both of the projectors in the first image claim 600 Ansi Lumens. As you can see, the one on the right is much brighter. On measurments, the one on the right will get to 642 Ansi - but that difference shouldn't be THAT noticable. So you're going to need a dark space, and one with a large surfact to project onto where between you and the projector you have about 8 feet of space (from my first comment). You can see how this is turning out. 3) Fan noise. People forget this one all the time. I used to run Ansi Lumen tests and dB tests on all of my projectors - I am not going into details on this one here because I have a good comparison right beside it. The one on the right runs whisper quiet (unless its running updates, or has been on for over a couple of hours - then it "dumps heat" - where you'll get a quick burst of fan at high volume - this is way more efficient than just constantly running). Unfortunate, with the lower end model, it constantly runs. And if you've got an external sound system you're running this to, and you're not sitting close to it, you might not notice it - but its gonna run. To me, that's a deal breaker already. I will say, the audio may be the best thing about it - it does put out decent sound. A little tinny, but when I was able to run a test of the sound, it was pretty good. 4) Yes the fan does run - and that's because this thing runs pretty hot. Just be prepared for that. 5) The apps - this is where these lower ends always leave a lot to be desired. The one I tested it against runs Android TV 10.0. Okay, that's an older version of Android...but still, that's Android TV 10.0. Which means Google Play store, and hundreds of native apps that you'll recognize. For this, I could never really see much due to the constant blur, but I assure you its NOT Android TV. All of this being said, if you have a 100-120 inch screen, 8 feet minimum of space, a firestick, roku, chromecast, and an external sound system that can drown out the fan noise (its not horrid, but you'll notice it) - eh, who am I kidding. I do not recommend this projector. ... show more
