“Traditionally”, the other style of SSD holder, the “clamp-squeeze-from-the-sides” style was mounted on the left of the cages, above the data ports/power slot area. The 4K cage was configured that way. It was cumbersome and clunky. For the new SmallRig cages, for my BMDPocket 6K camera, I have these SSD drive holders mounted on the far right! Sooo much more sleek, out of the way, and symmetrically effective. It is easy to secure the drive, and secure the cable head. I haven’t had to adjust the two mounting screws yet... so rest assured that even with heavy use, you won’t feel “preoccupied” with gear concerns... allowing you to remain focused on the shoot itself.     • Good, minimum SSD mount
A good, minimum size mount for a SSD drive. I use it with both Samsungs’s T5 and T7. I’m discontinuing using the T7, due to poor write speeds. So, eventually, I will see how well it works with other SSD brands.

I kinda wonder if I should have gone with a cold shoe version of this on how my setup is but this does work just fine. It is quality made, and I do only use one screw since my setup doesn't have a good spot for me to use the second screw. It holds just fine, and it is a very nice mount.

    • Great addition to keep everything secure and clean looking, with one disappointment.
First, I'm a HUGE fan of Smallrig products. Most of my rig is Smallrig products. And I waited for some time for this to be available through Amazon. It was a no brainer to keep my T5s secure. But this particular product has one flaw that is really surprising. It uses non-standard M4 threads that only work on one place on the Smallrig cage. And it covers the cold shoe area on the cage. WHY?? Why not just make attach with standard 1/4" 20 screws?? Why limit where you can mount it? I just don't understand the thinking of that one here. ... show more

    • Fits perfectly on my Lumix S5 Smallrig cage in case you are wondering!
This is perfect to attach the T5 SSD to my Lumix S5 rig, using the Smallrig cage. It says for BMPCC 4K & 6K and Z CAM, but it's a standard fitting for most cages.

This thing is great. Does exactly what it says it does. My only issue is that it can only be mounted on one spot. It would be nice to mount it on the right side of the camera so it's easier to hide the usb-c cable.
