Tried this for two consecutive days on a flat surface of a fiberglass shower stall with a very lightweight shower mat. On both days one end of bar fell down. Adheres well to our smooth glass shower surround. The rod itself is in 3 telescoping section and definitely not as sturdy as a solid towel rod, but it solves our problem of little towel-hanging space. After you put it up, leave it alone for a day before adding towel.
