  • It's Slayers
If you like Slayers, here it is at a fair price. I can't think of anything else to say that's relevant.

  • A classic, and underrated, anime on DVD
The packaging and actual box set was in fantastic condition. Even came in a day early, wonderful. So that was great all-around. As for the series, classic 90s anime. Nothing too serious, but knows when to be dramatic. The English dub is very well done, the Japanese version is great too. Audio and picture is decent. Three seasons make this a must buy for any fantasy and retro-anime fans. ... show more

  • A very entertaining kind of vintage anime cheese.
It's no work of art, but it is very entertaining if you're looking for a simple, entertaining anime to pass some time with. The artstyle is very pleasant and the motion is animated very smoothly, with lots of energy. The plot might be a little basic, but the characters are likable and very easy to identify with. The dubbing is pretty good in my opinion, tho the dvd comes with subtitles for those inclined. Overall, pretty satisfied with what I got. ... show more

  • Why doesn’t the English dub have it’s own English subtitles?
The media could not be loaded. To be honest, I wanted to give this box set 5 stars because visual quality and audio is exactly what I expected as a DVD only but I can’t understand why the production for the box set doesn’t have English subtitles for the English Dub. Im not saying there aren’t any subtitles but probably for the translated original Japanese dub only. ... show more

  • Good clean show.. at least the first 3 seasons.. 4 and 5, not so much.
This series was a very fun one to watch. Usually during longer runs, like this show has, you will get a bunch of filler episodes in there, that look as if they were put in there just to fill in the episode number request. This show really did not have many, if any, of them, so, what you get is a show that you do not get tired of. I felt that each season had it own ending, that make it feel like you could stop there, and not miss anything.. But then the next season started up seamlessly. This is nice because, if you decide to stop at season 3,a nd not go for season 4 and 5, you will not feel like you are missing anything. Before I get to some info about the show, I do have to give one warning.. There is a season 4 and 5 out there of this show. They are NOT as good as the original first three seasons. The movies they did a decent job of keeping up with the shows personality, but, the seasons 4 and 5, they completely dropped a lot of the distinct, and entertaining part of Lina's personality. It almost seemed like they had a completely different writer for the last 2 seasons, and then changed her personality, to shorten the show, just to get to the ending faster. IMO, It did not work out that well.. So, for the first three seasons, I would give each of them 5 stars each. The movies I would give 4 to 5 stars each.. Seasons 4 and 5 I would go with maybe a 3 star rating. As for the show, it is a typical magic, sorcery, demons and dragons type of show. The main character, Lina, sorcery genius, travels with a companion, Gourry, which is a top notch swordsman. But, Lina is the straight forward type of person, that loves money, and will do most things for money, is insecure about her lack of feminine charm, and has not problem throwing a fireball at someone for going there about it.. and Gourry is more of a ditsy airhead, that does not remember most things, unless it revolves around food, and has to have everything explained to him.. The comic situations that come up because of that, get very entertaining, and comical. Later on, they meet up with, and start traveling with other companions, and even gets a rival (which is more one person trying to get lina) which add to the shows appeal. Overall, it is just good clean fun to watch. If you want more details about the show, I am sure that there is a ton of other reviews that go into more details, but, I did not want to spoil the show for you. ... show more

  • Great season!
I loved the show itself since these are the best seasons imo, however quality wise this was a bit of a downer, these are older dvds so sometimes you see some lines on the bottom of the picture like a old VHS when playing it, I used a PS4 Pro. Sometimes the quality would vary by episode, some look great others were questionable. REALLY WISH we got a blue-ray but word I keep hearing is that they lost the masters of these seasons so an HD re release is unlikely. As far as the content goes, I still love the series, dub voice cast for this I prefer over the Jap subbed version, I think the english had a bit more impact and was more well done surprisingly. Season 1 is amazing, season 2 had Martina (who I hate) but overall my favorite season, and season 3 was still quite good. All much better than Seasons 4 and 5. Also, surprised how many English VA also worked on Pokemon, Veronica Taylor(Ash) was Amelia, Eric Stuart(Brock) was Gourry (very obvious), and Rachael Lillis(Misty/Jesse) was Martina and additional voices, (on Martina you can hear her jump between Misty and Jesse pretty often.) Its those kind of fun things you can hear but they all did a fantastic job. Overall I like it quite a bit, just wish the quality was better, hopefully we get a BR release someday. ... show more

  • Great Show, Not so great packaging
Slayers is a great anime, but minus a star for the case it comes in. The discs will either slide right out or are too difficult to remove without feeling like you're breaking them. You're better off putting them in your own cases
